Never Work With Turkeys and children

Right on time the Judge of the open day's " Best Name For The Turkey" competition arrived to pose for his publicity shots. Larger-than-life local wag Peter and his better half Val had a slightly exasperating time of it during the photos shoot as the turkey ( the artist formally known as Bingley)  proved himself to be somewhat of a Mariah Carey diva and stropped around in front of the camera like a big girls' blouse.
Mrs Trellis will be running the competition on the day

  11. I keep mentioning that you should write a small book and sell it at the open. The chapter on the Scotched Eggs alone make it a best seller.
Love the lead up to the open, I so wish I could come.... maybe next year.
The artist formerly know as Bingley was just having a star moment. The sun(who knew it shown that bright in Wales) was in his eyes. He was bewildered !

    cheers, parsnip

  12. There are several species of turkeys here in the US. The turkeys here in the north don't have any white feathers.
Our turkeys are molting too and I'm finding lots of feathers around.

  17. Daft question - what's wrong with 'Bingley' for his name, please? It suits him and I won't know who you're on about if you change his name. Poor Bingley will be soooo confused.

Between you and I , his name won't change
It's just a ploy to raise money on the open day .....the winner of the best name will win the competition and a hamper of food all for the price of a pound ticket!
Two years ago we raised 180 pounds naming one of the pigs!

  19. Good way to raise a bit of money. I'm glad you won't be confusing poor ol' Bingley by calling him by a new name. (like, um, Dinner?)

  20. Hehe. Bingley is no doubt certain he's the better looking. Of course he would 'hog' the photo. ;-)

Have a great week, John. Hope you raise a bunch of money!

  21. everyone knows that turkeys can be cuddly when they want to be, Peter - you should have manned up, took a chance and hugged Bingley for the perfect photo op...

but then of course not everyone needs two eyes either...
