Hazy Day

In bad weather Trelawnyd has a tendency to look deserted and dismal
In good weather, it just looks sleepy
Today it looks comatose

Valerian is a weed but at this time of year it borders our lane quite wonderfully
As does the honeysuckle over our front door

  1. Anything that flowers, is a flower. They're only weeds when they grow where you don't want them (or so I'm told).

  2. Rather than weeds, I like to refer to them as wild flowers.

  3. It looks beautiful. I planted Valerian with the hope it would get out of hand and self seed. It took a few years, but it is doing it now.

That last shot looks like it came straight out of a fairy tale.

  9. So pretty! Valerian can be a useful herb, John. I've got yarrow self-seeding all over the place. Delightful aroma when i mow the grass.

  11. The fragrance of honeysuckle is so very pleasant. I’m thinking I like comatose it just slows the world down a bit.

  13. I live on valerian - its the only thing that makes me sleep! I had no idea it looked like that or grew so freely here. Guess I never googled it!
Your are a mind of useful information!

  16. Oh John - a weed is only a plant in the wrong place. Extract of Valerian is a great herb for helping people sleep and it can also be a replacement for catnip - you might like to try it out on Albert - as catnip of course as most cats don't need any help sleeping :-)

  17. What you call sleepy many might think of as charming. Until they come across someone driving by in a grimy dog-snotted Berlingo with a forgotten Scotch egg container on top. Then it becomes quirky.
