A few people have commented that I look like a scruffier Russ Crowe ( see yesterday's blog) Apparently it is a common psychological phenomenon to pick a partner that looks a little similar to yourself.....
Could this be true?

No way in hell do Bill & I look even remotely alike. Here I thought it was "opposites attract". Lord, I hope so!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! I agree....Opposites do attract. We can prove it.
Deleteawwwwwwwwwwww, don't you two look cute!
ReplyDeletemy spouse and I look alike; spouse has the mustache (that's how you tell us apart). tee hee!
I learned in a psychology class that people are attracted to someone of a similar "look", without necessarily having a specific resemblance. X and I didn't look at all alike, not even after 30 years. I wish I could be as good looking as one of my dogs.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Psychology is not all it is touted to be. Cannot believe everything people say. Must use common sense! And my daughter is a shrink
DeleteYeah. Now that I think about it, I got a "B" in that class. It wasn't that great if I got a "B".
DeleteI love the last photo of you two ..
ReplyDeleteI remember the commentator at a certain hillclimb saying that it was me driving the racing car, as "I was the one who did not have the beard"!!
for the record, I do not look at all like my spouse; I am considerably shorter and considerably fatter than Compostman (AND I have no beard!)
(and I am not bald)
Twins separated at birth, I'd say!!
ReplyDeleteif i looked like my husband i would kill myself. it's bad enough i have to look at him all the time i don't want to look like him too! either one of you needs to grow a beard or one of you has to shave.
ReplyDeleteNo general resemblance to my wife, but after retiring from 35 years of gardening my hands looked a lot like her feet.
ReplyDeleteGood God no... I look much better in a skirt!
ReplyDeleteJane x
I can curl in my ears all by themselves. I get mistaken for Princess Leia....
ReplyDeletePawsitive wishes,
Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar!
Well, everyone took my answers, if that doesn't beat all! DH and I look nothing alike, thank heavens!
ReplyDeleteI hope my hubby and I don't look alike...scary.
ReplyDeleteYou do look like Russ Crowe to me.
I believe I may look more like your William..smiling into the wind.
Haha...love the William pic.
DeleteAnd which of you is the scruffier (Russ Crowe, that is).
ReplyDeleteWill the real John please stand up!
ReplyDeleteI've heard that pets resemble their owners.
ReplyDeleteAnd I've heard that couples can grow to look like each other...
But I think you look for a mate with a lot of your own interests. What else would keep you together through the years?
I can go along with that to a point, but I'm glad I don't have my husbands nose!! :o)!!!
ReplyDeleteThe last picture is proof of your theory! However, if you asked my wife if she agreed with you, she'd probably get her rolling pin out.
ReplyDeleteYou two are peas in the proverbial.... I don't look like my partner, I am (a bit) fatter and blonde he is dark and has no arse hahaha
ReplyDeleteJo in NZ
Good one John!
ReplyDeleteIn my case with Marcia, it's not so much chalk and cheese as chalk and coal... Like Cro, I am not going to bother asking Marcia if she agrees with you. I doubt she would belt me with a rolling pin but she would definitely confiscate my whisky!
Finally! The long awaited proof that Chris isn't you without a wooly hat. You two look great. And full of love.
ReplyDeleteEls
Well we both had dark hair - but mine came out of a bottle.
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteIn my more 'active' cruising days it was particularly exasperating finding that those who showed most eager interest in me were often the blond, blue-eyed, clean-shaven, 'Dorian Gray' types, who didn't attract me at all - whereas I always preferred dark, hairy-faced guys, rather like myself - and still do. The first was a case of 'opposite attracts' (night and day?) whereas there's very possibly a degree vanity in people like myself looking for a mirror-image, or something close to it.
ReplyDeleteYes - but I don't think I look owt like Gaz! xxxx
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that we were attracted to people who have the qualities we would like for ourselves. So with regards to my husband would that be his ginger beard, pot belly and bushy eyebrows? :-O
ReplyDeleteGood grief, perish the thought.
ReplyDeleteWould I ever want to be bald, with a hairy bum and wrinkly ears.......
Mind you, I wish I had his feet.
Good heavens! What was Chris doing to you when that last photo was snapped? Seems like he's using the Christmas nutcracker as an instrument of torture! Ah well, no pain, no gain I guess - each to their own.
ReplyDeleteWell my husband has a beard and my dog is a Pug ..... I sincerely hope I do not grow to resemble either of them :-)
ReplyDeleteThat photo of you two is just the bees knees!!
Two peas in a pod !
ReplyDeletePicture three is uncanny. I look in no way like my husband but I do look like my dog !
When I was young and I had a beard, long hair and round glasses, like many other young men I looked the spitting image of John Lennon. Nowadays my face seems to have become quite distinctive and I can't think of a single person I remotely resemble.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely attracted to those who look similar....I've just never had a partner who did!
ReplyDeleteLet me see:
ReplyDeleteHim: 6'1' Me: 5'4'
Him: Asian Me: English Rose
Him: Grounded and grown-up Me: out with the fairies
Opposites attract in our case I think.
Clearly I need to grow a beard...
ReplyDeleteI think the picture titled 'Me and my dog' says it all! xx
ReplyDeleteSome of these pictures are scary! (Not you and Christopher of course...) I fear I am beginning to look like one of my chickens... my hair is getting a "silkier" texture these days, and not in a good way... :D
ReplyDeleteI've often noticed this phenomenon. I don't think Jerry and I look at all alike (and honestly we don't), but I do so often see couples who could be siblings. And to tell the truth, I've always thought you guys were very similar in looks. Of course, when you're that good-looking, why would you want to find something else.
ReplyDeleteI think there's a lot of truth in the theory - mu wife and I have similar shaped heads and noses and we've noticed other couple sharing similar traits.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mitchell. Himself and i do not look alike. In his younger days, he looked like Daniel Craig. Now he looks like Daniel Craig's older, balding, paunchy brother. Still has a great smile, though, that lights up his whole face.
ReplyDeleteGods you two are cute....
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I do not physically look alike he is a blue eyed blonde with big blonde beard while I am a brunette with hazel eyes and no beard (yet). We do have very similar mannerisms and bad habits however.....
