The Garden at Dusk

We have a tiny cottage back garden, and an even smaller front garden, but in May and June, it does look at its best
The planting is haphazard and in places untidy

It's a pity, the garden is not always like this
But it kind of suits our old lady sense of style

The aubritia I planted on the church wall last year is doing well
It makes me feel that our garden extends way beyond the garden wall

  2. I agree, cottage gardens should be all of a jumble and as it comes. Lovely garden, wish I had a garden like that somewhere here. I was supposed to have a front garden but we need the space for a winter paddock, so I think I shall have to make do with bits of flower beds here and there.

  10. Beautiful Garden John, it is after all your garden, if it pleases you then that is the most important thing. Love the flowers on the church wall. Looks great.

  14. Ah yes, garden delights. A visual feast of flowers. Of course, the most important question is what brand of vehicle is that?

  19. Looks like the "English garden" my father always strove for. He imagined it as a carefree, self-seeding flower bed with a riot of vibrant colors. No organization or design necessary, thank you very much.

  20. We have a lot of heat and dust here, and quite a bit of polluted air, which makes things look not so good. So watching your garden I am not able to see any untidyness. Great garden!

  27. Define 'old lady'! My garden is very similar with the Columbine (Aqualegia) and Allium. Did you only plant that Aubretia last year - it's mahoosive?! Such a pretty spot on the planet to live - lucky duck.

  31. "The planting is haphazard and in places untidy" - possibly like the garden's owners? Nice to see The Berlingo featuring in the top photo like a giant motorised garden gnome. Lovely garden Earl. I hate to see too much control. A bit of wildness - with plants jostling for position always appeals to me.
