" Who Would Have Thought It?"

Meg.Enjoying the sun...Duster is in the distance
" cor...lummy....it's a warm, nay HOT bank holiday"
A totally unbelievable event in recent Uk history.
I have wasted half of the day in bed after night shift.....
And woke up under the eaves of the cottage, sweating like a pig.
Bwthyn-y-Llan is south facing, so warms up magnificently when the sun is out.
The heat gets you up and going much quicker than any alarm clock

The badgers removed poor Bogbrush's corpse over night, leaving a couple of white tufty bits in way of a guilt trip for me.....Duster, Bogbrush's brother is now king of the field.....he should be safe from tin bowl weilding ,sciatica suffering nurses.........he's a benign fellow,

Anyhow ..we are off to Jacksons ( a market garden and cafe just outside the village) for a sticky bun........I wanted a scotch egg..... But there is no call for them .....heathens

Chris talking to Albert on top of the blind Rooster Cogburn's run.
With Meg looking on

Aw, you might have given Bogbrush a decent burial at least.

My English born partner used to make scotch eggs. Some deep frying and lots of fat was involved. It amuses me that you can buy take away scotch eggs.

  4. Now that you mention the heat, I think these are the only outdoor photographs that I have seen on this site with any shadows.

Does the sun come out so rarely there? Today's temperatures (max/min) at Mohali, India are 34 and 19 degrees Celsius.

I'm sure the badgers appreciated your offering and life on the field will be calmer without the little bully.

  7. Andrew (above) expressed my initial thought re the poor Bogbrush. I only hope Duster isn't pining.

Now that you've presumably had a shower to wash away your 'glow', get it all back again by going out and running around like a mad thing with Meg and Albert in the sun. I'm sure they'd appreciate your company - not to say rather nonplussed by your curious antics.

    1. Ray.... Chicken carcasses should not be buried... As though as it sounds a meal for a badger is kinder all round

    2. Why should they not be buried?

  8. I hope the Badgers don't now think of your runs as the local restaurant. Although, maybe they did already!

  10. Looks like a lovely day John. I hope you and Chris enjoy yourselves immensely regardless of the lack of Scotch eggs. We finally have had nice sunny weather here too and the only snow left is from the sledding hill! The Newfs are hanging out there now.

  12. Wot?! Having done the foul deed, you DIDN'T eat Bogbrush?!

  13. Sticky buns and sunshine! Are you sure you're not dreaming?

  14. Ok John, how do you pronounce Bwthyn-y-Llan? I've seen recipes for scotch eggs and "contemplated" trying them, though they aren't on my low cholesterol, semi-vegetarian diet, they do sound delicious even if they are a heart attack waiting to happen!

  15. I forgot to comment on your previous post and ask if you and your tin feeding bowl are for hire please as I need a hitman for the bloody cockerel next door?

  17. Meg is so cute! Can't believe you're having such warm weather. Send some across the pond my way please! :)

  18. If one of our hens dies John, we always put it out for the fox - it is a good way of recycling and most of them have cubs to feed at this time of the year. Mind you Bogbrush wouldn't have a lot of meat on him.

  19. My neighbour in my last location never buried chicken or rooster carcases, either. She'd let them in the large field for the foxes, although she never explained why. I'm guessing they'd smell the carcase even under several inches of dirt and dig them up?

Looks like you're having a lovely day.

  20. Hmmm. "...he's a benign fellow". I'd still keep the tin pan within reach, John. Now that Duster is Ruler of the Roost, he may change. After all "Absolute power corrupts..." I'm just saying. ;-D

  24. i am wondering if there is a difference between your scotch eggs and ours. most places here deep fry them and i don't like that because then they have the fried oil flavor. i bake mine. people love them. this last time i made them with maple sausage for the first time. YUM!
