That Jolly Old Lesbian
........Claire Balding has won a BAFDA for her work on last years's BBC Olympic coverage
gawd Love her....... She deserves it...big style
Almost single handed lay she dragged BBC's Sport into a class all of its own
good on yer gal
We have a less than six degrees connection with Clare's family since she was a child. We think she's great. What's with the "Jolly Lesbian" title? She's not defined by her sexuality. You of all people should know that. FFS. She's a brilliant accomplished TV sports presenter. And pretty nice with it.
Indeed, a true legend of BBC's incredible and sometimes correct sporting coverage. Jockey Liam Treadwell says, with a toothy grin, "I fang her for all her dedicated sporting work."
I second yours and all the above positive comments. If I was hetero I'd be wishing she was too. (What's that got to do with anything? Search me! Just thought I'd throw it into the mix.)
I have no idea who she is, except what you wrote here. But what I know is that the world needs more people like her. Not lesbians, not TV presenters, but people who are good at what they do despite the useless bullshit that plagues everyone's lives.
Greg Davies ( mock the week ) once said of Mz Balding that he loved a woman that looked like she could hold her own in a pub fight

DeleteI adore her ability to be professional, likeable and bloody talented
At least he didn't call her a 'dike on a bike'.
DeleteNothing to do with your post, but it's snowing and I wanted to moan at someone.

ReplyDeleteShe's very good at her job and doesn't seem to have a single ounce of nastiness or arrogance in her, which is truly refreshing.
ReplyDeleteIf I were her, I'd be deeply offended...old indeed!
ReplyDeleteShe has made sport more interesting for me so congratulations to Claire !
ReplyDeleteShe stole my BAFTA! The Olympic Opening Ceremony was up for a BAFTA, but we didn't win. Just because she was brilliant is no excuse....
ReplyDeleteI agree. Good for her. Just a shame Miranda Hart came away empty handed yet again but good on Olivia Coleman - the queen of the show.
