Winter Church View

I may not go to Church as a worshiper but I do support the institution as part of the community 'cement' so to speak...
Today, was my day for Church cleaning, so I thought I would take a short film of the Church and Graveyard...you may have to open the videos up in YouTube to see them more clearly.....
And forgive the snotty commentary, my cold is getting somewhat worse...

  1. I love the simplicity of this lovely little church. How old is it?

  2. 1724 originally but of course it was revamped by the Victorians x

  3. Thanks for that! It is very pretty, and yes, we should preserve old buildings.
You need a hot toddy,a blanket, a dog to cuddle, and a mindless DVD .
    Feel better soon.

  4. Can we see some of the rest of Trelawnyd as well? Other people's neck-of-the-woods is always interesting.

  5. Love your videos.... so tranquil. I'm not religious either, but I love churches because of the peace I feel within... guess it's removing oneself from all the hub-bub and going to another level. Yes, it's sad that we're not all accepted for who/what we are. Maybe some day?

  6. Been watching some of your other videos over on YouTube, John and I agree with Cro, seeing other people's neck-of-the-woods is lovely, particularly when accompanied by your running commentary. Hope you're feeling better soon.

  8. John, thank you for the walk around the village. More, please. Such a sweet, lovely place.

Do hope you feel lots better, soon.

  9. Nicde little church that John. As a non-Christian, I agree with you that the village church is important as a centre of village life. If you are cleaning that church today and it is as cold as most churches, wrap up well with that cold.

  10. Just thought -maybe too many Scotch eggs cause colds!

  12. What a lovely old church, John and so nice that you clean it and can feel the peace within. I imagine there are centuries of graves there. Will they run out of space?
Thank you for the 'look see'.

  13. Thanks for these what a wonderful little church, visiting your area is on my bucket list. I was in Wales for the Coronation in 1969 and traveled the country a bit then but never was able to spend a great deal of time visiting smaller villages like Trelawnyd.

  17. A delightful tour of your space! Sometime could you show up some of the tombstones?

Wish I could sit in that church for a bit...

You put the wind up the runners though..

  19. Ha ha - next thing will be you and Chris in the same setting, having confetti thrown over you! I know it!

I miss the police helicopter which used to hover over you when you were taking a video.

  20. Such a lovely church, I throughly enjoyed the tour. I really like the simplicity of the building. Thank you!

(It may have been revamped by the Victorians, but at least it wasn't 'done up' by James Fowler, he wrecked about 23 of Lincolnshire's churches.)

  22. What a beautiful old church, and all the more so because of its small size. It was nice to hear your voice, too.

A few years back, when we were visiting relatives in Maryland, I went to church with my mother-in-law to help her clean. It's usually my sister-in-law's job, but she was out of town, so we were filling in for her. Anyhow, it's a Catholic church, where they have those little bowls of "holy water" at all the entrances for people to dip their fingers into as they enter the church. Now, I don't know if this is how my SIL did the deed... but Mom simply rinsed out those bowls and re-filled them straight from the tap. I thought it was hysterical. I mean, shouldn't that water be "blessed" by a priest, or the pope, or somebody... to make it "holy"? Mom said, it was "close enough."

  26. Wow! What a lark getting a glimpse into your Trelawnyd world. The runner ducks were just the frosting on the cake! Thank you for narrating this little documentary.

  27. Thanks for sharing. If those walls could talk in that church! Loved seeing the snow drops I think you called them... and your kids on the other side of the fencing. Fun to see your land that you are so familar with from the other side... isn't it? Is the cemetary right behind the church?

  28. What a lovely view you have from your place. It is a very pretty little church.

Amazing how thick the walls are in the church not to mention how old the structure is...here in Idaho the oldest buildings are probably around the early 1900's. And I love how tiny it is. The smaller churches always seem to have more silence than the cathedrals. Maybe it's just the intimacy that makes it seems that way. And I second Susan's request to see more of the tombstones! I've always been moved by the brief life tales they tell. Thanks for the lovely little tour...

  31. You voice! Strange how I've known you all these years and never heard you speak. I hadn't even imagined what it must be like, but very dulcet toned.

And I agree with you entirely about churches. I'm not a believer either, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the beauty of a spiritual place like Trelawnyd Church.

  32. It's a beautiful church, I love the interior. I used to be the church cleaner for our village church, did the job for two years although I never went to a service.

    1. I am replying to my own comment here, ha ha. To add, our church has a PA system, big church, hard of hearing elderly congregation. I used to switch it on, grab a hymn book, and sing away to my hearts content. Britains Got Talent, eat your heart out, ha ha.
