Treasure Hunt

It won't surprise you that Chris is not really a pub person.
His sensibilities don't run to Fosters lager and pork scratchings
(he's more a veal pie and small port kind of person!)
But this afternoon he and I drank pints of ale and ate crisps with the rest of the villagers at The Crown who supported the Carnival committee's local Treasure Hunt fund raiser
It was fun
We didn't win.. of course we didn't , but as the local country "Waen" show kicked out at the same time as the Treasure hunt finished, the pub was packed with country types and farmers, and as the beer flowed , we won a bloody awful candle set in the raffle and sat with the "King of Trelawnyd" Tommy -the-gop, who filled me with old stories of Trelawnyd past!
It has been a nice change.

  4. How awful was the candle set? I know your taste, and I don't trust it. The rest sounds good - beer, etc.

That sounds like fun...and....if the candlestick is truly awful isn't there a guy named Tom you could pawn it off on?

  8. I can identify with Chris. I'd much prefer a small port to a pint of lager. But being a veggie I'd prefer a bowl of chips to a veal pie.

So what was so awful about the candle set? I quite like candles myself.

  9. Fosters lager? Ick!
Pubs maybe, Fosters I'd have to be dying of thirst. Sounds like a great time was had by all.

  10. Chris and I share the same birthday, I'm not a pub person either (although I make the effort, now and then) mine's a plate of our local Tavern's chips and a small glass of wine.

  11. And change is exactly what you need. Pleased to hear you're off to visit good friends.

That Chris is such a class act. I, also, have a May B-day and see that Elaine is a Taurus, too. I'm in good company, aren't I?

    Still sending hugs your way.

I can handle the beer, if my companions (and neighbors) tolerate me belching. A glass of wine is more for me (and no belching.

  17. It totally cracked me up that Al (an Aussie) says he doesn't like Foster's. I'm not a beer fan, either, but the rest sounds like a lot of fun.

Glad you were able to enjoy some time with Chris, and the villagers.

  20. I haven't set foot in a pub' since the price of a pint exceeded 50p. However, the thought of a pack of scratchings could almost tempt me back.

  21. Lager? I always had you marked as a real ale man.

  22. Many a good decision has been made over a pint in the pub...our village Carnival has been revived by a group who meet in the pub.
I have a huge bag of pennies to pop in the buckets- sadly we are not allowed to lob them at the floats anymore !( Health and Safety ) We did get to keep hanging baskets tho. I don't think one has ever fallen on anyones' head & caused harm - I can't say the same for throwing pennies !

  23. Would love to see the bloody awful candle set!

(Note: I had my fingers on the wrong keys when I started typing. Lo and behold... I was typing Welsh. I had to switch back, though, because I didn't understand myself.)

  24. Sounds like a fun time. I think regifting the candle set to Tom a nice idea. Who knows? He might discover that there is indeed a candle stick you can both agree to dislike!

  25. Terrance and Philip (a sub cartoon within the cartoon of South Park cartoon) once made some "let's hunt for treasure" reference that still amuses me beyond what might be deemed responsible...... It might have been in the fabulous episode entitled "not without my anus" which was a spoof of the crappy film "not without my daughter"..... very funny if you like extreme childish fart jokes, which I DO!!!
