"Fiddle-de-dee"

I must thank Miss Scarlet over at http://talesfrombeyondthenook.blogspot.co.uk/ for her wonderful detective work last night. In a series of emails she has furnished me with some intriguing information about the family Morgan ( see previous post) and their presence in and around Trelawnyd at the turn of the century.
It was very kind of her, especially as she took the time to send me invaluable snippets of census records
When I have a bit more time after Sorrel goes home, I will get stuck in with more research!

Tonight I am working, and so will be disappearing back to bed this afternoon. Chris and Sorrel have gone to Chester shopping for the day, so I am determined to have a quiet day!

As I type this, I have just spied Peter Ellis walking his dog in the lane.
He looks annoyed and is rubbing his head
A collared dove sitting on the power lines has just shat on his head....

That is hopefully the most exciting thing that will happen today!

  1. Poo-ed on his head? Don't you mean coo-ed above his head?....Or shat?

  2. Good luck with the research.

It seems your local collard doves like a good target practice ;-)

  5. As usual, spewing coffee all over my keyboard! That is indeed perfect timing.

    Good luck with your research.

  6. I’d really like to do this sometime. About three or four years ago, I bought my Dad a genealogy website subscription. Unfortunately, my Mum then had her first stoke, and I don’t think he’s had time to do the research since. It’s something I might do in the months to come, if I feel so inclined.... Nx

  8. So I'm wondering, is your little rhyme "doggerel" or "bird-erel"?

  9. At least it was a smaller bird...
    Heh.

  13. Good luck with your research. I have recently (the past 15 years) begun to dig around too, with some results. Unfortunately I didn't do any questioning of my grandmother or father before they died. My mother, bless her little heart, has been a fabricator of history ever since I was a kid, so no real info there, and certainly not for Daddy's side of the family. In fact, when Daddy was still alive she had come across a box of letters that were HIS grandmother's and she burned them...after SHE read them. When I, in horror, asked her why she would do such a thing, she said because "they were too personal" for people to read. Thanks Mom!!

Hey John. Happy Easter to you and your family. I hope you get to rest a bit.

  14. I am looking forward to more about the Morgan Family.
And yes, I had always heard that to have a bird crap on you was good luck. I suspect only because cows don't fly.

  15. Getting hit by bird poo is supposed to be lucky though ,as it has happened to me, I can't imagine why. I was the unfortunate target of one of your HUGE seagulls. Down here in Oz we breed them a lot smaller. Almost ruined my day around St Andrews in Scotland!
    Cheers

  17. Hope your shift is uneventful, although it was a full moon yesterday, so it may prove interesting.

    Sleep well, and Happy Easter!

Two years ago a seagull shat on my head right bang centre of town. It felt like a huge raindrop on the crown of my head (you know, where your hair divides into front, sides, and back - the zenith as it were). However, it wasn't raining. I tentatively felt the spot, inspected my finger tips and Watson to my Sherlock beat a determined retreat into the department store right next to me. Cosmetic departments always on the bottom floor. And where they flog you beauty there will be tissues.

By golly, how lucky I was: I latched onto a counter with eyecandy complete with eyeliner in the shape of sex on legs. And no, I am not a cradle snatcher. I asked him for a tissue or five. To the credit of his upbringing and good manners he did not laugh when I told him what it was for. He only smiled. And asked me to come back for a make over once I'd recovered my composure and tidied up. I beat my retreat like a crab, only backwards.

Fast forward a couple of years: Now I live in seagull city. None of them shit on me. Has my luck run out?

  20. Well, whatever the bird did, he left something for your neighbour. Hope your detective work goes well; I'm just starting on my family tree.

    Joyous Easter to you all.
