Laurel & Hardy

When I took the dogs on their afternoon walk we passed a couple of guys unloading a trailer in the village....
The men were making a real bloody hash of the work and even the terriers sat there half amused by their antics as they dropped box after box...
"You two remind me of Laurel and Hardy" I chirped up when the younger guy dropped yet another package and I had had to smile when the other guy asked "who the bloody hell are they?"
Bloody Heathens.........

  7. 'You do your work and I shall do mine'....favourite comment at home when moving furniture with mother...guaranteed hysterics on the stairs...

  8. Laurel and Hardy were my favorite comedians/movie stars when I was a kid, but that was a long time go. I ccn understand why those clumsy fellows wouldn't have a clue. It also sounds like they didn't have a clue on how to do a simple job either.

  9. As much as I hate to admit it, we are slowly but surely being 'replaced'! 'magine, not hearing of Laurel and Hardy.

I seem to recall that you're not the most capable of furniture removers.

  13. Tina, you remember the post Mouse refers to? The one where John trashes his friend's antique cupboard?

That would make John Gray Herr Dick, nicht war?

Ich kante die beiden nur als Dick und Doof als ich jung war but I still know who Laurel and Hardy were.

Didn't Stan Laurel come from your neck of the woods, John? Ok, different coloured rose perhaps but still from 'Oop North'

You know something? I reckon the Disney Channel and especially bloody cartoon network would do well to get rid of all the violent cartoon crap on childrren's TV such as Ben 10, Bakugan etc. and replace it with Laurel and Hardy, Buster Keaton etc.

My three year old is mad about Ben 10 but when my brother from Stuttgart (or was it my half brother Vladimir from Kyyiv?) sent me Laurel and Hardy's 'The Piano', Alex laughed his cock off all the way through.

It was educational too. At three he already knows how not to deliver a piano.

  14. My brother (well... and I) loves Laurel & Hardy. And the piano movers is one of their all-time funniest. I bought him the DVD and we watched it together the last time he visited. Great memories!

  15. That reminds me of the guys we hired to move our piano and bench. They were careful with the piano, but dropped the bench and broke it. Not funny when it's your stuff.

I love the Laurel and Hardy humor, but I never really caught on to the Three Stooges humor ...

  18. I never saw a television until the late 70's and know who they are and love them. I vote that they are just that stupid.

Now I only hope that they are not the same movers that I have coming to move my parents things in three days.

So the removalists were young and clumsy. But not unfit? you're lucky they didn't know who L and H were - they might have bopped you one for being cheeky

  20. Fairly sure that those were the two blokes who moved our Aged Aunt's things from her old house to her "sheltered" accommodation. I had to keep the peace while they had a fight, banged stuff around, shouted, postured and - eventually - the boss sacked his assistant...

Dig up Laurel and Hardly and bring 'em back I say - much better than the nonsense on-screen these days!

  21. Heathens or just young?
    Hmmm maybe the same thing!

  22. Wot, someone who hasn't heard of Laurel and Hardy? They probably think it's a fashionable men's clothes shop in Knightsbridge.

John, there's a little controversy on my blog about what your death penalty comment was all about. Perhaps you could clarify for us all? (I couldn't find an email address for you)

  24. Laurel and Hardy always make me laugh...but an odd thing, I remembered this as a black and white clip...may be that was the TV when I last saw it many, many years ago

  25. You were too hard on them, John. They were probably just too young. And, does this mean you're too old?

  26. Any modern day comedian worth his salt will point to Laurel and Hardy as to of the greats. I'm surprised that Sky doesn't have a L&H channel!
