How things change in the blinking of an eye.
This morning I have had three phone calls over a rapidly cooling cup of coffee.
The first was Chris, who is still working away in London.
The second was an elderly lady who somewhat tearfully asked if I would 'adopt' her small flock of hens, as her frail husband could no longer look after them
And the third was a lovely conversation with a lady in Liverpool who wants to find a loving home for her five year old female bulldog.
" The Jungle Telegraph" is an amazing thing.
The upshot of the conversations were:-
I will be picking Chris up from the station at 7pm
I will go and look at the elderly lady's hens this morning( with my hen crate in the boot)
And the lady with the bulldog bitch will bring her over to see us on Tuesday
hey ho
and how do I know that you will be adopting these birds & beasts in need ?
ReplyDeleteWill you be adopting Chris as well? LOL!
ReplyDeleteJohn do you answer the phone "Trelawnyd home for waifs and strays?"
ReplyDeleteI am very excited about the lady Bulldog, can't wait to meet her!
A 5 year old bulldog? Can you even imagine yourself saying NO?
ReplyDeleteThree cheers for a lovely man!
ReplyDeleteSuch a good man and kind soul. Is there room in Beatrice's brody box for me?
ReplyDeleteExcited to see your new bulldog :-)
It seems as if the bush telgraph has got you marked as a great and helpful guy or maybe a soft touch?! I have a friend who is passionate about Bulldogs, she always has one and reckons they are great company. Enjoy you new family member.
ReplyDeleteHey ho? You don't sound to disappointed!
ReplyDeleteI think you must qualify for some sort of charitable funding John. You are going to need it soon, by the sound of it.
ReplyDeleteJust returned from seeing the hens. Will show you all a photo of them later..all healthy but shagged to death by a randy cockerel..so much so most are almost bald.....
ReplyDeleteI brought 11 home!
Wow. More eggs to give away in the spring. Do your chickens lay all winter, John?
ReplyDeleteI do hope you all get along well with the bull dog.
Tell Chris we said hello. :)
Word must get around that there is a charming Welsh fellow who not only takes in strays, but cuddles his turkeys.
ReplyDelete...and the beat goes on...
ReplyDeleteyou will be supplying the whole of Wales with eggs shortly!!!
ReplyDeleteGill in Canada
And here we go again. Johns home for foundlings is up and running.
ReplyDeleteGoodness, you have such a vast menagerie already, and you're ready to take on a flock of hens. A glutton for punishment!
ReplyDeleteOMG! You really are the most generous soul. In the spring you may have to acquire more land.....but wait, if you wait a bit I am sure someone will give it to you! So good to know someone like you John.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking Angel Constance has had a hand in the bulldog inquiry.
ReplyDeleteThe hens: never ever a dull moment for you!
Looking forward to the "results show..."
xoxo
We just get animals dumped here in the preserve (most of which, alas, succumb quickly to coyote predation). You've got a real dilemma, John, because there's an endless supply of animals that need care and attention.
ReplyDeleteScott, I an not totally altruistic
ReplyDeleteThese bald hens are young, healthy and will be good layers when they finish moulting, they will replace my old girls who have all stopped laying
Fostering: Foster homes provide temporary shelter and care for animals who presently have absolutely no where to live. We will continue to look to permanent homes for these pets but fostering keeps them safe, and provides comfort and security, until they can be adopted.
ReplyDelete*does not apply to Chris

ReplyDeleteMore additions to the Gray circus?
ReplyDeleteHave you thought about opening a safari park? Might get some welsh grant or lottery funding...
...bet you've got a safari suit (a pink one no doubt - crotchless of course)x
:O)
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda envious of your morning. Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tom...surely you qualify for some kind of assistance to help you feed and shelter your animals! Happy to know you have the future in mind with the arrival of the "new" chickens...more eggs since the "older gals" aren't laying! And a lady Bulldog...excellent! With all the excitement don't forget to fetch Chris home!
ReplyDeleteThat spam is still going the rounds I see.
ReplyDeleteGood for you with the chickens!!
Don't be surprised if one day I come knocking at your door asking you to take me in!
ReplyDeleteCan't say any more than what has already been said. Except, what more could you want? You have young laying hens, a young bulldog and Chris.
ReplyDeleteYou're a good egg John the Dogs.
ReplyDeleteI admit to saying awww out loud when I read this post, you have a huge heart.
Can't wait to meet the new Bulldog, I hope she fits in the fold nicely.

ReplyDeleteCan I come and live with you please John?
ReplyDeleteJo xx
Wow, you will need more land if this goes on.
ReplyDeleteSo THAT's where Mabel and the Crackwhores came from! I finally find the source.
ReplyDeleteAaaaah...
