"Out with Anger...In with love"

Had an averagely horrible night at work last night and I was almost half way through a blog rant about the increasing number of alcohol based admissions to intensive care ( albeit in my mind).. but then thought better of it. Sometimes you just get tired about being upset and irate about things you really cannot change in this world even if it is the increasing number of younger people presenting with mouth and throat cancers after pouring shots down their gullets all during their salad days!

And so I have decided to let the following "reasons to be angry" ebb away into nothing ( at least for today)

  • kids riding sports bikes ON THE PAVEMENTS
  • Parents who say that their child "is my best friend"
  • People that stink ( and who don't have a mental illness)
  • People who stand chatting to old friends in the centre of Sainsburys food aisle
  • People that drink cheap beer on the train at 9.30 am

and I shall leave you with this rather charming video of Tom Stephenson trying to work out his new web cam! Love the part where he asks HI to drop the front of her dress
Have a nice weekend everyone

  4. Delightful.

Good to let things go, difficult, but good.

  5. The video is too cute [and slightly too much what occurs at my house although with significantly less swearing] Sorry to hear you had a rough night at work. Odd, we rarely have alcohol based admissions but frequent drug related ones - they either took too much and didn't mean to or meant to and didn't take enough to quite get the job done.
You are quite right - let go of what you can't control. Rant away if it helps chase those demons.
    hugs

  7. We are so foolish indeed in our salad days- love that term..

I agree with all your points! I am going to add to the list:

Teenagers roaring down a road while talking on the cell phone, oblivious to those walking their precious dogs (leashed)

Love the video. Happy weekend xo

  8. Parents using pushchairs as a weapon

Teenage toerags riding mopeds through our quiet streets at 3am. Especially the ones that use the alleyway as a cut through. If only I could find a make your own traffic stinger website....

  10. I saw that video on the news and unfortunately, could relate.

    Pet peeve of my summer-
Young people racing their loud, high performance cars up and down my winding country road at night. The noise is deafening, they run over animals, and one day they will possibly kill themselves. They usually start this about 9 pm, while I am sitting outside enjoying the night sounds. However, youth doesn't care - I remember doing things annoying when I was young also.

  12. OK, you jokester! I see this video on Huffington Post and it gives the names Bruce Huffman, 86, and his wife, Esther, 79, of the Hillside Retirement Community in McMinnville, Oregon.

    Good, though.

  16. As an addition to number 4; people who always choose to gossip in doorways, and then give you a dirty look when you try to use said doorway!

  17. That couple is adorable. Thanks for the laugh.

Pet peeves - I've got a few! I think it helps to have a rant now and then.

  22. Oh yes!!! What has happened to parenting that parents need their kids for best friends, poor unfortunate kids?
If people want to drink themselves to death and stink it's their choice but I feel very sorry for those who have to deal with them.
    Better day tomorrow?

I thought you were serious! I was all ready to go over and congratulate Tom on his sudden ascent to fame. (Is it better to be gullible than cynical?)

    Reasons to be angry:

    *@#*!!*@#$ squirrels

    Reasons to be happy:

The two pears and one apple they didn't destroy are practically perfect and almost ready to pick!

  28. Those idiots are job security for people in your field. And if they're really stupid, job security for people in my field.

  29. Absolutely love it!! Also love the fact that Google keeps putting an advert across the bottom which says 'Look ten or fifteen years younger' - is it trying to tell Tom something.

Like your list - could I add motor bikes that weave in an out of the traffic on country roads and creep up silently behind one (usually on double white lines) and also dog owners who do not pick up their dog poo.

When I was in hospital last year they brought in a pretty young girl suffering from too uch drink and rolled her on to the bed in the recovery position and just left her - she was still asleep twelve hours later - I think everyone in hospital gets fed up with it John.

  30. That's a good short list, and a good thing to do.
Happy Sunday to you all, John.

  31. Drives me nuts when a parent claims to be his/her child's best friend. You are not supposed to be your child's best friend. You are supposed to be his/her parent!!

The video was adorable, although I see shades of myself and hubby 20 years down the road...

  32. I saw this couple on CNN recently...hubby and I had a good laugh. So this is Tom ;) Glad you were able to let things 'go'.
