Joey Scarsbury - Believe It Or NoT

Yesterday's blog was a kind of homage to the the 1970's
Today's is a kind of Nod to 1981
In 1981 I was a bank clerk!.....and a very BAD bank clerk.
I was young.....had a beard and haircut the spit of Joey Scarbury's,dated girls and never once balanced my till in 18 months.......
I was only thinking of those faraway salad days last Saturday....as a patient a colleague was looking after turned out to be a fellow clerk from those old National Westminster Bank Days!
Funny that I recognized her.....she hadn't got a clue who I was, then laughed loudly......it's Richard isn't it?...I was invisible even then!

Anyhow enjoy Joey Scarbury.......  Andy Gibb and the towering transvestite introducing him are a blast!

If you didnt enjoy the first video...try this one!
love the fat guy at 22 seconds

  3. No head mics in those days. Notice how Robin and the transvestite have to tuck their hand mics unders their arms to applaud!

  4. Oh...those dancers...painful. We've come a long way, thank goodness, the 80s were so ugly!
    Second one made me laugh.

  8. Lordy lordy. 1981. I had a 2 year old, had just started a hair salon and drove the cutest little blue Chevette. On top of the world indeed.

  9. I think that Joey Scarsbury's picture is next to the "one hit wonder" definition in the dictionary. Nevertheless, I (secretly) really like that song (I think I'll add it to my iPod), and I appreciate your posting the videos. The music brought back good memories.

  15. I always really liked that song so thanks for the reminder.
Poor Marilyn McCoo... isn't that who the trannie is? And I think it's Andy Gibb, not Robin (slightly less huge teeth).
You worked in a bank? So that's how you bought the cottage...

  17. Balancing money... I feel for you! I was a bank bookkeeper... spent most of the '60's in the bank basement. I had to balance my books twice a day! Glad you got away to meet friends and for some time for yourself. Thanks for reading and commenting on my blog, John.

  19. Loved the videos!

I was just a kid in the 80s and have a fondness for all things of that era. "short" shorts, big hair, tight jeans, leg warmers...

We had a "80s night" at Zumba last year and it was a riot. I was more 80s at "80s night" than I ever was back in the day.

Since you seem to be moving up the decades, I can't wait for your tribute to the 90s...

  20. Crikey John, that ad for Instant Kiwi is still showing on TV over here. The Govt. wants us to buy lots of lotto tickets to help fill the coffers that were emptied after the Christchurch earthquake.

It's a good song. I like the the fat guy too, and flying bowling team at 37 secs.
