Sounding like an old pervert

The View down the vale from the top of the Gop this morning
Today I sound a little like Richard Attenborough's character from the movie 10 Rillington Place......I have an exspiratory wheeze that could out do my mother's "60 a day" tar chest, and this morning when I was half awake in bed after Chris had gone to work ,I was half convinced that someone else was in bed with me, as I was sure that all the breath sounds ecching around the cottage bedroom were definately NOT my own....I am getting old...or at least my lungs are, thanks to this inherited chest infection from mother-in-law Sorrel...I must admit I do sound somewhat f&cked respiratory wise!.......as I walked the dogs up the gop in the sun this morning I met a friend and neighbour who commented on my old lady chest as I puffed my way up hill....

."perhaps you've got Psittacosis" he volunteered cheerfully!

Also, I am getting a little frustrated today as I know I am so behind on my spring planting.,Our Friend Nige comes to visit later, so I am now off to the supermarket for some grub....so the potatoes will have to wait a day or so more

Forgive the banality of this blog entry.......real life and sputum has got in the way!

  1. After several bouts of bronchial pneumonia as a child, I'm left with lungs that, when weakened, sound like a chain-smoker on their worst day--and I've never smoked in my life...so I can well imagine what you are going through right now John the dog!
I like your real-life posts...they sound, well, real.

  2. It's a bugger to be respiratory compromised. I cannot go anywhere without my ventolin and Q-Var inhalers and after my stay in hospital (in air conditioned "comfort") it is worse now than before. Lots of fesh air does help, as well as light exertion to produce some deep breathing!

  10. Feel better. Seems the to do list gets very loud when one doesn't feel well. Wonder why that is?

  12. Engage your friend Nige to help you plant them. Or maybe trade eggs with a young man for some help in the yard while you're under the weather.

Hope you feel better soon, John. Have a good weekend. ♥

  14. Poor old fart!

(No, seriously, I also think it may have to do with allergies. When it hits my husband he sounds like a lovesick elk in season!)

  15. Hi John! Work got in the way of my blog visits. I LOVED your post about each of the dogs and how everyone knows you and them.

Same with me and my 4 poodles... all the kids know me as we walk to and fro. I have trained the kids to not RUN UP ON US!! Now they run to a certain point, then dramatically stop and walk up very slowly... it is extremely comical to watch! Also the polite drivers who wave and smile. Just fun to be out and about with the dogs, I related completely to that post!

Happy weekend and hope you perk up soon! xo

  20. Sorry about that chest - hope it doesn't turn out to be a sudden allergy to dog hairs! Must say Constance is nicely rounded in the bum as they say in that photograph.

I think you are just allergic to dogs and chickens.

  23. Be thankfull you don't look like one John! I hope your chest clears up soon. I have asthma and am suffering with my breathing at present - even getting out of breath coming up the stairs :( I can't even up my dose of meds as I'm on the max for both pills and puffers. Take Care. have a lovely weekend. Sue x x

  24. Hope you get better soon. This time of year I too start hacking around like a smoker...and I do not smoke. Between the sneezing and hacking I am sure provide great entertainment. Life happens and generally does get in the way of chores...but the chores will wait for you ;)

  28. Having been over a cold for a few WEEKS now, and still having a nasty cough, I feel for you. (And you have several pets, you sure it was all you? Snoring pups can put out a lot of noise. Or at least mine have...)

Well I was wondering what that strange wheezing sound was this morning. Evidently we were hearing you all the way over here. My, my.
Mentholated balm rubbed on the chest (they call it Vick's VapoRub over here...Vick was clearly the Original Pervert) and a hot-as-you-can-stand-it hot water bottle laid over the top does wonders to help break it up. But then you're a nurse and probably have tricks of your own for it. Have fun with Nige in any case!

  31. That view looks well worth the trudge up the hill. I used to wheeze quite a bit until I knocked drinking histamine dosed white wine from the supermarket.
Well done on your village blog too by the way, I'd love to live in a little Welsh village like that.
