Sunday Tearful
Every Sunday I think I will post a piece of music that stirs the emotions One to get the "emotional jacuzzi" muscles going so to speak Tonight it will be the Lullaby from Pan's Labyrinth Enjoy
Very beautiful. John..I have a question for you. I am thinking of moving to the country and I am throwing around the idea of raising a few chickens. I don't know much about them and I am wondering if you could help. How long does a free-range chicken lay eggs? I think I am to expect 1 a day per chicken. What do you do with chickens after they are finished laying if you don't want them for meat? I don't mind keeping them but I don't know how long they would live. Do you see where I am going with this? I don't want to kill chickens that I have been raising. What do YOU do if you don't mind me asking? Deb
deb hybrid hens lay around 300 eggs a year but they burn themselves out quite quickly..... free range hens will lay well but NOT one egg a day consistantly..... some breeds like Buffs are pretty but are shit eggs layers... get a mixture, thats my advice I had 34 eggs today with perhaps 40 hens ( 15 of them over 4 years old!!!)..... happy hens produce lovely tasting eggs your customers will keep coing back!!!!
I've wondered the same thing Deb asked! I've talked to a number of people raising chickens now and nobody seems to be able to eat them after they stop laying. How much longer do they usually live? My son gave me this DVD about three years ago and I still haven't watched it. I loved the images as well as the music. I'm going to have to dig out the DVD and give it a go. Great idea about the music once a week btw! Diaxxx
Definitely soul searching music. Sad but beautiful.
