I wasn't going to blog again today. I've had a busy old time being all manly and cutting down fallen trees, building bonfires and repairing fences.
I have also had another visitor to the field, who appeared carrying a pet basket.. Yeap another mouth to feed I thought, and I was right as the man asked me to take his unwanted silkie bantam cockerel-apparently he was crowing a little too much!
He is a scrawny little red head with a 1980's mullet
I have called the little fella, Eric
I think you should have called him Billy Ray with that mullet :) LOL John G--have you thought of taking donations to help feed all the animals folks are donating? Where do they think you are getting the money to take care of their ridiculous mistakes. Anyone who gets a rooster and gets rid of him because he crows too much needs a good flogging!! ;) LOL
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday, Amy
Are you sure he's supposed to be a Silkie, John? Silkies are supposed to have feathered feet and legs. He looks more like he might be part Ameraucana or something like that...
ReplyDeletePretty boy though! I hope his presence doesn't shake up the farm hierarchy too much...
he has many fine feathers on his feet nancy....I think he's a real baby too!....
ReplyDeleteHe is quite pretty, I hope he doesn't get battered by the big boys!
ReplyDeleteWhere do you get these names from? Is there a book called "Ridiculous Names for Poultry and Dogs"? I hope Eric keeps away from the Killer Turkeys!
ReplyDeleteHe is a pretty little fellow. And I too hope he works into your flocks well! :)
ReplyDeleteWasn't there a singer called Restless Eric ?
ReplyDeleteAw, no great chicken fan but quite taken by this guy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a little sweetie - for now, anyway. :)
ReplyDeleteYou collect birds like I collect 24 year olds
ReplyDeleteAre you sure this one isn;t going to lay an egg?
ReplyDeleteYou're very kind John....lucky little cockrell got himself a nice home...
Eric will think he has died and gone to heaven!
ReplyDeleteAw, he's cute!
ReplyDeleteJohn - I can't be positive from one photo, but I'm pretty sure that is a buff laced polish cockeral. That boy has feathers, not fur, and a "V" comb, not a "Mulberry" comb.... he may have a bit of silkie somewhere in his ancestry, but he is primarily Buff Laced Polish. Silkies look like Muppets - goofy, fluffy, poofy, furry things.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of pedigree, he looks like a sweetie.
Kate :) xx
He's a pretty bird, and a lucky bird.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations...Eric is adorable, even with the mullet!
ReplyDeletexo J~

ReplyDeleteI bow to your knowledge...I am more used to bog standard hens myelf!
bless he's only as big as a large thrush!
So here he is! I was wondering who the unlucky little fellow was. There's something a little ironic about the whole thing eh? Just listen to some of these comments:
ReplyDelete"He is quite pretty, I hope he doesn't get battered by the big boys!"
"What a little sweetie - for now, anyway. :)"
"He's a pretty bird, and a lucky bird."
And my personal favorite:
"Eric will think he has died and gone to heaven!"
Oh John... :-)
Well don't go pulling an egg out of its bum or it will be renamed Erica! LOL!
