Police.uk

I worked last night.
I spent most of my twelve and a half hour shift "specialing" a distressed and potentially self harming patient. The night was not technical as ITU generally is, but it was emotionally draining.

When I got home,I needed a few minutes "downtime", but couldn't sleep for my usual hours catnap, so I spent a fascinating hour or so trolling through the new crime website Police Uk, which was only launched a few days ago.
The site gives an indication of the crime statistics in your General geographical area and will specifically give you results of crime on your very road!....as you might image the results from the whole of the Trelawnyd  area for December is low ( 2 crimes in total -none on our road) where as the results for our old Road in Sheffield was 8 crimes ( 7 of them antisocial behaviour problems) and 307 in total for that general area of the city.
I am not quite sure how useful these statistics will be ( apart from a vague curiosity value)
But it is worrying as it is interesting!

ps for a more interesting view of world policing ( this time from rural Alaska...have a look at this police beat website........-thanks Ina)

  1. John, What do the photos have to do with it? Perhaps the fact that it's 3am here and I've had no sleep is why I've missed the correlation? Did you see the post with Meg and Hootie on my dog's blog? Check it out and tell me what you think of it.

  4. I read the local crime stats each week in the newspaper, mostly burglaries and creepy things going on after dark.
At least it gives you a heads up on what's going on in and around the town, and anything looking suspicious probably is..
I have the utmost respect for the bobbies, you couldn't pay me enough to tackle that job.
I've kissed a few policemen in my time :)

  6. It is comforting to know crime is low where you are. It has to add to your comfort level.

  7. I investigated the two Trelawnyd crimes a little further. Both are unresolved and worryingly involve bestiality. Apparently in the first incident a bearded, stout gentleman was seen in a lustful embrace with an equally plump bulldog bitch. The same gentleman has not only been seen catapulting rocks at starlings but also entering a hen house on many occasions in a state of semi-undress creating alarm amongst the feathered occupants.

  9. We get the local court reports in our smalltown paper, and even as rural as we are, crime still happens here and there.

  12. What... no sexual predator listed on your road??? One Constance Gray? Or pillaging charges on one Charlie the Fox? How about disturbing the peace and environmental damage by (again) one Constance Gray (flatulance)??

  13. Our local paper prints once a week and there is usually some crime happening. Once a month they show who went to court for whatever (not traffic violations) we have murders, assault, the occasional child rape, property damage/theft and the ever popular - drug possession with intent to sell. The paper covers the whole county. (which has the lowest population per mile, in the state)

There are not enough deputies to really take care of these problems. I am not saying this is a really bad place to live, but - I lock the house at night.

Note: as with most cases, the murders are family members or beer buddies.

  14. We get the statistics in the paper every week. It's still low, but not nearly as low as it was just a few years ago. I'll have to check to see if they are on line somewhere. Never thought of it.

  15. Hello John!! I read the crime reports to see if there's anyone that I know--And with some of your mishaps and 'wardrobe malfunctions,' it's good that your name has not yet appeared in one! :-))

  16. Despite witnessing many horrific and violent crimes in our street (in Bath) over the year, the hot-spot in my locale is centered around a pub called 'The Pig and Fiddle', which has 2 entrances on two streets, one either side. The crimes are a combination of anti-social behaviour and 'violent'.

Now, over the years, I have learnt 2 things: 1, that it is unwise to give the police any more information about an ordinary enquiry than they justifiably deserve, and 2, that nomatter what information you give the police, they will ignore or twist it to suit their own, thick-headed and downright stupid thought-processes that they (erroneously) think will make their lives easier.

Most police are as thick as shit - they also have the main say in which drinking establishment will be recommended or not for a renewal of their licence in the magistrates court.

It doesn't take Inspector Le Strade to work out that they might have their own agenda in publishing these 'figures' using Google's fine maps.

  17. Must admit I am worried by the increase in juvenile anti-social behaviour in our town - graffiti, late night drinking, assault, traffic violations, to name a few - seems to be increasing and the local response seems to be to form a "Progress Association" and ignore the need for a proper youth centre and upgrading the very popular local skate park!

  18. I checked this out, and there is an entry for antisocial behaviour on our street - Our nasty neighbour dobbied my daughter in when she had a party when I was on holiday!!!! PS I snog a police officer every day!

I think the dick with the dogs who attacked Lady St. Trinian should have his face plastered on the site. Harumph. (Sorry for the language. But sometimes nothing else works.)
