The animals have taken to their houses as the weather has drawn in......so while spring cleaning the living room cupboards I have watched THE NUN'S STORY (9/10), AIRPORT 75 (7/10) and am half watching (yes believe me)...half watching.. MUPPETS FROM SPACE......

ReplyDeleteThe Nun's Story - still scares the shit out of me. The great Colleen Dewhurst as the Archangel. I was six when I first saw it and still break into a sweat thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteThere are two shocking scenes in that great film that linger in the mind and both are not graphic as modern cinema unfortunately is. The archangel fight scene ( for those that don't know this is where the junior nun ( Audrey Hepburn) is attacked silently by a psychiatric patient---is a classic of pure terror
ReplyDeleteand the other scene where a congo native batters to death a benign nun in a hospital ward full of screaming women is terribly harrowing!.
The Nun's story is beautifully shot, the austerity of the inside of the Belgium convent contrasting stunningly with the bright colour of the congo...
I think it actually sererves a blog of its own
