Well the plethera of videos continue ( and will stop for a while I promise you) with a brief introduction to my favourite hen on the field. the gentle natured Lilly.
Now the "voice over" was a little muted as I was mindful that the gravediggers are in to prepare for my neighbour's funeral later today.
Steve, the village elder (as I call him) is overseeing the work and is using the digger to scrape out the Church wall (which I am repairing) and to dredge out the ditch on the border of the field. Now all this work is his idea, so I am letting him get on with it as itis easier to do that rather than to discuss the whys and whatnots in any detail.....I feel a little like a spare wheel though ,so I will go and busy myself elsewhere

I've never had any Orpington's, however, I know they are quite popular with poultry folks.
ReplyDeleteLily is very pretty. She looks like a sweetheart. I almost got Buff Orpingtons, but got Mottled Houdans instead ( should have got the Buffs!). George is very handsome. Love his face. Really have been enjoying the videos.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh she's very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI was trying to decide between Buff Orphington's and RI Reds, Mom has a soft spot for the reds, so that's what I went with, but your hens look wonderful. I might have to get brave and try to work out how to record things for my blog. (Don't expect it for a while... When it takes me a month to figure out how to put a blog header up, I don't think I am going to rush into things!)
ReplyDeleteBut, it is still wonderful to see your birds and such!

Whenever you descibe the poor bloke as the 'village elder' rather sinister images of The Wicker Man spring to mind. What sort of picturesque village is this - and does the postmaster's wife do naked dancing?
ReplyDeletebel......If I ever saw Jenny the postmistress naked!( dancing like Brit Ekland) that will be the day I will eat my Boris!!!
ReplyDeleteas for Village elder.....yeap...thats a good description...believe me!
Be scared, be very scared......
ReplyDeleteThanks for the videos.Glad little George got into the view-finder. Such a cutie.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the view of your world. I'm sure you are used to it, but to me it is an amazing thing to live in and around such historic buildings. History seems to come alive. Lilly is sweet. Our Orpingtons are sweet hens too.
