The workmen are ripping out the kitchen window which is proving to be a harder job than they anticipated. There is much noise, the smashing of glass and some colourful swearing.
The terriers are safely away in the back of the car. Winnie is watching everything from the garden and
Albert is sat with me, nervous that there are strangers around.
He is ruffling my hair and jumps after one of the workmen shouts " Bastard!"

Shit, I look like the Wreck of The Hesperus!
Finally a happy post where Albert features prominently. It is always Einnie this, Mary that, the Prof the other....pour Albert barely gets a mention!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat you should be saying to those coarse workmen is..."I say old chap. When you fellows are labouring at my palatial residence I would be exceedingly grateful if you could rein in your language. I find swearing most offensive. Now carry on and remember to watch your tongues."
ReplyDeleteYeah right!
DeleteAww. Hi Albert!
ReplyDeletelovely picture of father and son
ReplyDeleteYou might enjoy this clip of Groucho Marx singing "Lydia the Tattooed Lady" from "At the Circus." He mentions the Wreck of the Hesperus. https://youtu.be/n4zRe_wvJw8
ReplyDeleteOh I love that !!! There was a lot of Marx Bros in my house in the past :)
DeleteLydia oh Lydia ~~~~~~~
I first heard the muppets sing that song! Loved it
DeleteAlbert looks good though.
ReplyDeleteYou do. But, Albert doesn't care.
ReplyDeleteI've had a wash and a shave since that photo was taken
DeleteAlbert is such a sweetie.
ReplyDeleteHe's a tough tom, and has been through a lot . He was a rescue kitten who lost his entire littler and mother. I found him at an animal sanctuary who lied and said he was used to dogs! For a month he lived on top of the kitchen table inside a cardboard box
DeleteIs he really a Tom and not neutered?
DeleteDon't believe a word of it. That workman didn't shout 'bastard' for no reason.
DeleteThey couldn't get the old frame out from the render! Hence the swearing! Winnie was creaming her knickers
DeleteTraveller he is a tom and is neutered
DeleteGlad to hear he is neutered. I tend to think “Tom cat”means a cat with all his tackle.
DeleteAlbert is one of my favs...black cats are clearly best. I love with four of them.
Hello gud cat Albert.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful photo.
cheers, parsnip
Lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteI love Albert! What a sweet guy. Black kitties are special.
ReplyDeleteAw...a head-butter. :) Love that guy.
ReplyDeleteHe butts the heads of each dog every day in way of greeting
DeleteIt may be chaos, but you are loved.
ReplyDeleteThat head butt speaks volumes!
ReplyDeleteThe pensive look, slightly resigned to the vagaries of life, does become you - as also evidenced by your recent photo in the aftermath of having received a friend's not so good news. Poignant shot. Come to think of it, you are actually rather photogenic.
ReplyDeleteI love Albert.
U
Photogenic? Who are you fucking kidding?
Deleteshe's right
DeleteNaw
Deleteeverything will be OK, albert & john!
ReplyDeleteHe's a sweetie
DeleteTrue - but the whole picture is saved by the cat cuddle.
ReplyDeleteLol honest till the last weave!
DeleteThe Wreck of the Hesperus . . . so is Alberta playing the albatross role?
ReplyDeleteSorry, "Albert" of course. Living in Alberta means I just automatically put an "a" on the end without thinking, lol!
DeleteI haven't heard that phrase,"Wreck of the Hesperus" since grandmother died in the late 1990s..and she was nearly 100
ReplyDeleteMy mother used it all the time
DeleteMy Dad did too 😊
DeleteMy mother used to say that, too, and neither of you were right. You look just fine. And Albert clearly loves you . . . as much as a cat can admit to loving anyone.
ReplyDeleteHe prefers the Prof more, they like being aloof
DeleteI'm with Albert - always nervous when strangers are working in the house!
ReplyDeleteWhen nervous he usually teams up with Winnie but she only had eyes for the window men
DeleteAlbert is beautiful. And much braver than our Jazz. When strangers are around Jazz is ensconced in our wardrobe, moulting up a storm. He is able to open the doors to let himself in - and does.
ReplyDeleteHe has to be tough with 4 dogs about
DeleteI've got a pair of glasses like that
ReplyDeleteMy reading glasses......they don't suit me
DeleteMine don't suit me a lot either. Mine are for the opposite
DeleteU ok?
DeleteYeh. x
DeleteNaww gotta love Albert, head butting cats are adorable... I have one that will, one that might and one that rolls his eyes and says..."really"!!
ReplyDeleteLove the description of Winnie only having eyes for the window men....and I love your glasses btw.. very swish as my daughter would say.
Jo in Auckland, NZ
I look like peter glaze from crackerjack
DeleteLook at you two!!
ReplyDeleteNothing like having a cat around.
Albert likes the way you look, it appears.
Jimbo, I will re post Albert's history tomorrow
DeleteJohn, you manage to make the most mundane things , exciting!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see all of your new things!
Me neither
DeleteTomorrow will be a totally Albert post !
ReplyDeleteYeah!!!!! And some good photos of the handsome lad!
DeleteYou have lost weight,
ReplyDeleteTwo very handsome cats :) You washed and shaved? Now youve gone and washed off that nice scent mark Albert planted on you. Last night saw a bloke with a photoprint on his Tshirt of a Winnie, I restrained myself from commenting, his wife might not have understood....
ReplyDeleteAnd the dish towel on your shoulders make you look like a great cook of a tv show!
ReplyDeleteAlbert looks alot like one of the cats i grew up with. Ours was named Mudpie.
ReplyDeleteHe met my dad at the bus stop every evening and they walked home together. We always brought our black cats inside as halloween got closer..to protect them from being a target for the hooligans in the neighborhood.
I love that photo. I think a head-but is the ultimate greeting and acceptance. Does he have a good purr? -Jenn
ReplyDeleteAre you in the photo too? Oh, so you are! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI feel for you. When we recently had our kitchen replaced, it was a bloody nightmare. Alcohol helps!
ReplyDeleteGotta love Albert. And tomorrow he gets a post of his own! :)
ReplyDeleteYou and me both, cupcake. Albert, however, looks adorable.
ReplyDeleteAlways love a black cat. Mine is ridiculously affection, but am not entirely impressed with the rat he left for us this week.
