The Walking Dead

I'm easily pleased!
For over seven years now ,I have followed the exploits of a group of apocalypse survivors in a savage world of zombies in the rural southern states of the United States and although I don't dress up as the crossbow welding redneck  Daryl Dixon , like so many Walking Dead Geeks do, I am told I am just as obsessed with the show as a spotty teenager, with no mates could be.
Season 8 sees war break out between Negan and three of the new order communities, and in a complete contrast to the start of season 7, there is a wiff of hope in the air as Rick et al prepare to kick some ass.
There is some speech making, group hugs and plenty of action but it is the following small points that I found " interesting"

  • The messaging between alter egos Daryl and Dwight provide an interesting mirroring between essentially the same character. I like the " softer" Daryl who is now more able to hug his friends
  • Tara and her plastic specs amuse me, she and Jerry are the only characters that seem to own a sense of humour
  • Carol on the overpass looks sadly at a graffiti flower ( ? Cherokee Rose!).....forshadowing?
  • I noted Some nice moments between the minor characters before the action starts
  • Why didnt anyone shoot negan when he appeared on the gantry?duh ?
  • Negan's wisecracking is really getting on my tits
Generally I enjoyed the start of the new series but it has its's flaws
.but like all old friends, who sometimes disappoint you, its lovely to see them all back
I kinda liked  it

  1. Negan. You know he is well written and created when you hate a charter with such passion. While he adds to the drama, I'm more than ready for him to get his dues......

  2. Although I am a fan of Jeffrey Dean Morgan, I'm done with the whole Negan bit...I was glad to see the beautiful Daryl have more of a substantial role last night. But don't get me started on Carl's hair.

  3. I didn't expect too much for the start of the season. I wondered the same about not shooting Negan when it was evident it was a clear shot. Rick wants Negan. He wants to kill him with his bare hands or bare teeth, but he wants him to suffer first! Remember the jugular scene!! Negan has inflicted a lot of pain on Rick and Rick wants revenge! I would like to see it happen about midseason.

  4. I would have just shot Negan.

Now the poor Pastor has to deal with the freak.

    2. Well, actually CARL should have mowed him and the rest of his thugs down when he had the chance with a machine gun from the back of the truck- would have saved a lot of lives and spared us from all of this frustration...

  5. I was yelling at the TV, "SHOOT HIM! SHOOT HIM!". I find it an odd contradiction that they had no qualms whatsoever about killing any of the people in various locations as they scratched them off "the list", just quietly and randomly killing them immediately but when Negan was right there, clear shots all around (could have been Ricks' gun, an arrow anything), Rick wanted to negotiate? No.

Now we have to see more of him and I do enjoy him but yep, it's time for his evil to be a fond farewell...

I'm not sure I get the flash forwards, the two with Rick old but his daughter not much older, and then then the whole red swollen eyes looking at the stained glass. Interesting. Should be a good season.

  6. right? I'm going, shoot him! all that firepower, they just let him strut around. but yeah. didn't care for the victim status of our heroes last season.

  7. I liked it a lot. I'm a little confused about the clockwork walkers. Why do the walkers walk by the same place at the same time each day?

Regardless, I'm really looking forward to where things go.

  9. I play the Walking Dead slot machine at the local casino. I always think of you. If you can, explain why there is a squirrel(?) as one of the images? Also a white blossom. It may not actually have much to do with the show, but then again, it may.

  10. Daryl used to kill squirrels to eat. The flower is a Cherokee rose, the flower Daryl gave to carol

  11. Cool, thanks. I don't have a TV set up, and most of the slot machines are based on some show or movie that I am clueless about. As I said, I always think of you while I'm playing the Walking Dead machine.
