A Breather

I am going to take a few days away from blogging.
I have been making a somewhat eclectic "to do" list in the gloom of the kitchen and writing in my diary (albeit an online one) seems a million miles away

So far today I have written

Flu Jab (tick)
Arrange George's haircut (tick)
Buy methylated spirits (One of the Crackheads has leg mite)
Ring Work about when I am returning, (tick)
Deliver Eggs (tick)
Find a pair of decent funeral trousers (not ticked!)
Organise a brief jaunt to Sheffield before Christmas ( almost ticked)
Ring abattoir re pigs (not ticked)
Kill rat which is lurking under back shed (organised though not ticked)
Write Christmas cards and send overseas gifts (whatever!)

Write my Brother's funeral eulogy (NOT ticked)

Yes....I will hopefully be back in a few days
hey ho x

  7. JOHN - re. Andrew's funeral eulogy. My advice is to write it down and to practise reading it aloud. Ask your sister-in-law if there's anything she'd like included. This will in a sense be your final gift to him and you want to get it right so that afterwards you'll be able to say to yourself, "I did him proud".

  17. Aw John, I want to be selfish and pout, because what the hell do I have to look forward reading while you're gone?

But I'll say 'take care and I'll be here' because that's the more grown up thing to do. :)

You probably do deserve some time to get things done. You have to take a rest from entertaining us (*cough*me*cough*) once in awhile to take care of real life.

  18. Just as long as you don't develop a 'tick' after doing all that you do, then things will return to (your) normal!
Catch your breath and see you in a bit, John.

  19. John,
Why hasn't Albert dealt with the rat? I should think he'd be glad to take care of that for you, seeing as you've got your hands full with other things.

And yes, taking time away and taking care of one's self needs to be on your list and TICKED.

thinking of you and your family.

  24. John, I think that everyone else here have put my own thoughts into words. I think YP's advice is good. Take care of yourself and Janet and Andrew's wife too. This is a family time for you all to be together. Our love and prayers are all around you and we'll be looking out for your blog posts when you're ready xxx

  30. I can't imagine that writing the eulogy will be an easy task. So many things to say that would be private and yet such a public voicing. I'm certain he knows your heart :-)
I will miss lurking about and smiling at your writings but you need to take care of you right now. Don't forget how many of us love you and will miss you until you return. We'll be waiting

  31. You've enough on your plate without blogging. I'll just echo the others and tell you to put looking after yourself on that list too. Time for you to go gently on yourself.

Until you come back I shall get my John the dogs fix by reading your archives right from the very beginning. XXX and hugs from NZ

  32. John...if I could I would take you in my arms and hold you very, very tightly and sing quite quietly in your ear "This little light of mine...I'm gonna let it shine. This little light of mine...I'm gonna let it shine. Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine".
