The hot spell broke in Llandudno around 4 in the morning
You could feel it kind of snap back to Welsh time from a muggy sort of Spanish summer like the twang of an old lady’s knicker elastic and the three nurses on duty and the patients with their relatives seemed to let out a collective sigh of relief.
I’ve just slept eight hours solid , waking only to the village ice cream van playing The Third Man as it tinkered by.
It’s my sister Ann’s birthday today and already I’ve missed a deadline to drive down to see her. I’ve just had time to write this , shower and dress. Back to work tonight
I will see her tomorrow
There were two cats in the house yesterday morning . Now we are back to one. the pattern seems to be Bun only returns home on a Saturday for a visit. I still haven’t found who her second owners are.
Yes, the heatwave has broken here, too. And it poured with rain about 5 minutes after I'd put the bedding on the line. Still, the sun came out and it's been a pleasant, warm day. I might sleep tonight!
ReplyDeleteLucky you getting the Third Man tune on your ice cream van. We get the Teddy Bear's Picnic. I know which one I'd rather have as an ear worm! xx
You're so fortunate the heat has broken and gone back to normal weather for your area. We have 3 or more days of 38*C to 39.5*C at the end of the coming week. Too hot!
ReplyDeleteHope Bun and Weaver are enjoying their walk-abouts and are checking in so you know they're safe.
8 hours sleep is good prep for a night shift. Hope all is peaceful.
Hugs!
and wishing Ann a very happy birthday, too!
Deletemore hugs!
That darn commercial did make me cry! XO
ReplyDeleteWork hard, play hard--and the Ice Cream Man. Life is good. [despite everything.] enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThe heat has reduced here, but the wind is rather determined. Well done on the decent night's sleep.
ReplyDeleteMy friend had a rogue kitty come to visit here and there a few days. She finally got a collar she could write on and passed on her telephone number
ReplyDeleteYour curious cat makes me curious. Glad you finally get some relief from the heat. We’re looking at 40-something for the next 10 days. But comfortable mornings. And air conditioning.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness! The heat is off. Everyone will feel so much better.
ReplyDeleteHappy B-day to your sister Ann.
I've known cats to adopt multiple homes. They rotate.
You are still in the loop but not on a daily basis.
Happy birthday wishes to Ann. Glad the heatwave is broken there.
ReplyDeleteWe had two female cats who hated each other! They seemed to communicate by telepathy. As soon as one arrived for her “turn” the other was already at the door waiting to shoot out into the night.
ReplyDeleteOne lived in the woods while her sister was in residence. The other lived in a small complex of senior apartments with doors that gave on a garden she could get into.
The more wild one came home for good when the old folks enticed her sister to stay (imagine being wooed by half a dozen old ladies each with her own special treats).
The wild cat died in an epic battle with a fox, killing the vixen before the made it home to expire on her own porch. A true hero.
Love your cat tales best of anything since Winnie. I admired Albert, too.
Big love from the US — Jenn
I used to read a book called Six Dinner Sid to my children, about a cat that visited a six different houses every day and who was fed by each house, every day.
ReplyDeleteoh those crazy cats! what would we do without them?
