I’ve got an explosive cough as well as a post viral malaise
And I’ve felt very unwell since Friday.
The verb “ explosive” has been chosen with care here,
For I was caught unawares like a lone zebra on the savannah when I ventured to Sainsbury’s for supplies
The coughing fit started in the medicine aisle.
Just before I took a swig of cough suppressant.
The wet farts a mini second later
And my body suddenly became my mother,
An evil entity whose only existence was to embarrass me publicly.
Red faced I galloped for home
The German shook his head when I videoed him the news
“ yu ‘ave passed the point of no return” was all he could say
Well, I hope you're over the worst of it all now. A few days of R&R, snuggled up with the fur babies is my prescription. Time to message a few people to bring supplies and comfort, methinks. Get well soon, and thanks for the update. I know I'm not the only one who was getting worried! xx
ReplyDeleteI’m still feeing incredibly lethargic
DeleteOh dear. Here we call wet farts, sharts. Hope you made it home before there was too much damage done to your undershorts. Been there, done that. You're not alone:)
ReplyDeleteSending hugs John.
I’ve been lucky , I’ve not been in work
DeleteOh no! Sharts are THE WORST. I hope your day improves!
ReplyDeleteIt’s been an adrenaline highlight I suppose
DeleteOh dear. I can feel a bout of second hand embarrassment coming on. But you are now at the stage of sounding even worse than you feel. But don't forget - we have all been there, done that, wiped....anything and possibly everything....on the t shirt. Courage, death heart!
ReplyDeleteI have a lethargy, that’s new ,I feel incredibly tired
DeleteI suffered lethargy too when in recovery from cancer treatment. Lethargy is NOT exhaustion and is the very devil to overcome - it is scary how quickly and easily one acclimatizes and even enjoys staring at a blank wall. Having dogs to walk that make you have to kick out of it are the best remedy to lethargy. Good luck and lots of bloody minded buggering on to get past it!
DeleteIt is true, things get worse before they get better.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are still laughing. Plus, the message from the German is so typical: direct to the point and with no embellishment. I am just hoping, you can only get this virus once.
weird comment
DeleteI feel stir crazy but not as much as I thought I would , I’ve not ready spoken to anyone since last Friday
DeleteYou said you've spoken to the German!
DeleteJesus John , welcome to my everyday world
ReplyDeleteLee
Eeeeeew
DeleteTMI
DeleteYou have my empathy!
ReplyDeleteThank you dearHeart x
DeleteSo sorry for this misery cough and for the embarrassing episode at Sainsbury. Surely you're not alone with these symptoms.
ReplyDeleteHope a friend in Trelawnyd can take your list for food and cough meds.
I don't know if the UK has Cepistat or not, but my horrid body shaking cough turned to 'eh - hae' in minutes after taking it. What a relief!

Get well hugs, my friend.
Cheers babs
DeleteI’m sorry that happened to you. Hoping you feel better soon! Cali
ReplyDeleteMe too…I’m not much brighter today and have cancelled my counselling clients for tomorrow
DeleteGet well, John! Take care of yourself! Can you order in groceries there? Might be better than risking a trip to the store. :)
ReplyDeleteGood idea noted for next time
DeleteDid you test for Flu[s/ A & B] and Covid? There s an all in one home test now, I m sure you know. You often bounce back quickly, so best wishes. I am on week four of Flu A, the cough is exhausting. Maybe store delivers supplies or a neighbor?
ReplyDeletelove, lizzy
I did have my Covid/ flu and pheneumonia vaccine in Nov
DeleteYou would know that you can still pick up any of those awful lurgys...just not suffer quite so severely
DeleteI am sorry - I did laugh at your mother analogy and must ask my daughter how much I give her the sharts! I hope that you get better soon - my husband's lung team have taught him a new way to clear his lungs which is more of a huff than a cough because once those fits take hold it can wrack the whole body.
ReplyDeleteIt was there to lighten the mood , my mood
DeleteSomething everyone needs to go through at least once in order to remain humble.
ReplyDeleteI hate a sudden explosive cough
DeleteCoughing for me always involves exactly what happens to most older women who have given birth four times. I suppose that's not as bad but one does not enjoy looking like they've wet their pants because indeed they have.
ReplyDeleteBe well, John.
Xxxmy deepest sympathies x
DeleteIf you are going to have a coughing fit the best place to pick is indeed the medicine aisle rather than the pasta aisle or the breakfast cereals aisle. Hope you feel better tomorrow John.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too YP X
DeleteThe virus currently making its rounds is bloody awful! Rest, hydrate, eat that which appeals & is nourishing, repeat, repeat. Glad to read that you've cancelled your clients for tomorrow. Hope the cottage is warm & you're snuggled with Mary, Roger, Bun & Weaver. Take good care of yourself, John dear.
ReplyDeleteThere are some aspects of aging that i just don't want to deal with.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are soon better xo
Wet fart! At least you could write about it with some humour. Happened to me when I was on a long walk ….a disturbed tummy ….rushed home to shower ! My partner thought it was funny until she succumbed to the same issue! . What’s passed is past John …get well soon
ReplyDeleteHibernate and look after yourself John.
ReplyDeleteYou will need to properly recuperate after this XX
This flu is no fun - I'm still coughing after 2 weeks but it is better so hang in there, John!
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon! hugs, Bun
ReplyDeleteWhat animal began to chase your lone zebra? No doubt the beginning of the chase brought out those farts. You need chicken noodle soup.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Thank you for the update, sad to hear you are not feeling better. Take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of many years ago - we were at the grocery store in the middle of a long line. The woman directly in front of us let go with a series of sharts (my new favorite word - so many uses). Couldn't escape the smell, along with the obvious stains. All we could do was begin laughing like 8 year olds.
ReplyDeleteHudson Valley Annie
Hugs and quick healing wishes.
ReplyDeleteI've been battling something, too-- and what's infuriating is only a month ago I had my covid and flu shot.
ReplyDeletethere is your answer, the flu and covid jabs
DeleteBeen there, done that. Nothing worse than a hazmat episode in public.
ReplyDeleteweavinfool
My wife has had that cough from two weeks before Christmas.... it persists.
ReplyDeletekeep having those flu jabs people, lol
ReplyDeleteThis too shall pass.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes.
It happens to everybody at some time in their life,, it was just your turn, sorry John, hope by now that you are feeling better. Gigi
ReplyDeleteYou know by sharing this information you can help others. I completely fogot about keeping up my Covid vaccinations which I will do tomorrow. So thank you. A while ago a friend listed the signs of a stroke on his blog. About a day later my partner had all the signs I called an ambullance immediately and proobably saved his life.
ReplyDeleteI once saved a coworkers life because i knew the signs of a stroke.... he had a few more years with his family....
DeleteBeen there John..... horrible memory...
ReplyDeleteVocê roubou as coisas do CAFAR junto com a Nátalie Tavares Delgado e a Luiza Moreaux Mattos, depois que o vídeo que a Luiza postou no Instagram, viralizou no X (antigo Twitter):
ReplyDeletehttps://x.com/Anonimofarmacia/status/1999918231201677383
Você foi expulsa do CAFAR junto com a Natalie Tavares Delgado e a Luiza Moreaux Mattos:
https://www.instagram.com/cafarufrj/p/DSaUfiRkR7v/
If you're still sick, dear friend, hope you'll arrange to see your doctor if you haven't already done so. Wishing you WELL!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Worried about you John. Please let us know you are okay.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you. Somewhat relieved to learn from everyone here that sharts are "normal", and not just the joys of metformin. (TMI, sorry!) Please take care and rest as best you can. Jxx
ReplyDeleteWe've all been in a similar situation.
