Bra Straps

Cold and wet today and I’ve pulled myself up by my bra straps
The bleed in my right eye can be seen if I close my eyes.
It’s the shape of Elphaba from Wicked, how apt I thought……

The Welsh and I drove to Colwyn Bay for coffee and shared sausage butty, which blew away the cobwebs and on the way home I bought a chicken to roast for lunch. I will plate up an extra meal for a friend across the village which I will pop off later….

As we got out of Bluebell behind the cottage a shout in the wind made me look up. A couple in the graveyard were waving at me. The couple Luke & Shana were Americans and Mormons. As it turned out , his relatives, way back had rebuilt the church and my cottage, a fact which literally blew his mind, given that he only wanted to ask me about the ownership of the church.

I made a coffee, and lit the fire
And as the Welsh slept, drying their coats on the kitchen reading chair

The cottage filled with the smell of roast chicken

Glad you lifted yourself up by those bra straps. I guess bras are good for something.

Mary and Roger are keeping an eye on their share of food…lol. It’s the simple things that bring us joy. Roast chicken sounds good, maybe I’ll make that tonight. Enjoy your day! Cali

What a lovely way for you and the family to start the day: Colwyn Bay and shared butties! Sweetly thoughtful of you to plan to share your chicken with a friend, too. I can well imagine how wonderful the cottage smells. Yum!
As for the couple in the cemetery, a small world, indeed.
Another lyrical post for your book.

    Hugs!

  7. Did Luke and Shana offer to convert you? Cool about their connection with the church AND cottage. When I saw the title in my list, I immediately knew it was you. No one else I know ever mentions their bra straps.

  9. Those good old bra straps! They do a sterling job. Glad you're feeling a bit more chipper today.
What a good friend you are to take food to your neighbour. I bet it's instinctive with you, but many wouldn't even think of it.
Trelawnyd is the centre of the universe, obviously. All roads lead there! xx

Sounds so cozy and wonderful in your section of the world with your sweet little ones at home. I do hope you realize how important your blog is to all of us in blog land. Especially here in America right now, we desperately need these connections to keep us sane. I know "this too shall pass" but still...

The Americans checking out the church might well be interested in Ms. Manley's book.

  15. "Way back" meaning before they became Mormons, I presume? Dave had an eye bleed as well several months ago -- speckles in his vision. Sounds scary to me, and resembling Elphaba doesn't make it better!

    1. No way back in the 19th century before most of the local Welsh Mormons left Trelawnyd and north wales for Liverpool and the steamers for the new world , they ended up in Salt Lake City
