Vacarious Pleasure

 Today it’s back to normal
Sat at the kitchen table
Planning and writing my last counselling essay…
My trip to London with my sister Janet is now in its fifth year
We have seen two Royal Ballets, three musicals and have eaten well all over London
A tradition which needs continuing
Janet  loves London and so do I
I also love the fact she gains so much pleasure from the effort of going.
On Friday night, I suggested we walked from Covent Garden up the Strand towards Piccadilly.
On the way we entered Trafalger Square
She had never been
And her joy was palpable ,

At Piccadilly she photographed the diving sculptures from a nearby building I had never noticed

Ok we had a fraught moment in the Opera House where she couldn’t switch off her mobile phone
But the incident made us chuckle long and hard on the way home , on the train journey from hell.

And her photo of Eros at dusk was sublime

There is a VE celebration tea in the Hall this afternoon, I saw the bunting around chapel street this morning

  2. Lovely photos and it sounds like a great time was had by you both. There's something magical about introducing anyone to a new thing or place, and watching their eyes light up with genuine pleasure isn't there. ❤️

  3. It is a gift to be able to take pleasure in everything around. Too many can't or won't.

I got swamped by pigeons on Trafalgar square while stupidly, on my part, trying to feed them seed... it frightened the life out of me, you truly couldn't see me at all. But I loved Trafalgar square none the less.

    1. Of course, but I am a city boy at my heart so I miss museums, and theatre and cafes and book shops , but there is enough of these to keep me happy here

    2. Maybe when you graduate and get going w counseling, you'll consider establishing your practice back in a city. Maybe Sheffield? I can see you in a chic flat in the city. The pets would do fine, you no longer have the big farm population to care for. Rent, no mortgage. Central heating! No upkeep of the building or grounds. Just a thought. I so imagine that for you.

My ex DH collects Art Deco lamps and bronzes , many with diving or dancing figures loke the ones on that building. So interesting to see these.
