Village Day

Mrs Trellis has her overly erect bobble hat on, so you know it’s cold
She’s written a story about the Avanti West Coast Trains and wanted to know if I would blog it.
I told her that I would
Blue shivered in the cold despite his expensive woolly coat .

Roger went around to the Manley’s to socialise with bouncy new English Setter Skye. The meeting went well, with his placid dimness calming her innate silliness and after an hour both had found themselves calm, and warming close to the fire.

It was almost dark when I got home, and village Elder Islwyn, half joking , told me off for my untidy. Drive. It’s bin day tomorrow and so he has a habit of changing some of the contents of my refuse bins in order to “streamline”  things better.
I’m obviously a work in progress
He picked up the litter in my drive
I just go with the flow
I dropped my TCA resignation letter to the velvet voiced Linda and stayed for a lovely, potent, and much welcomed gin and bitter lemon

I bought some second hand records today, a deluxe 2 LP set of Andy Williams 1968 , Sound of Music and Abba The Visitors 1981. Eve( daughter of affable despot Jason) has messaged, she has been gifted hundreds of LP S if I want to do through them xx how kind

And made Chicken and Sweetcorn soup thickened with fluffy egg

Always used to take walks with my Mom right as darkness started to fall in hopes of some open curtains. We loved looking in and seeing everyone rooms! Kathy up to her ass in snow near Chicago.

The soup sounds scrummy, I made broccoli & Stilton soup with a sourdough mini loaf (made in a bread machine - cheat I know). Your day sounds fine with the dogs, the Elder and more LP’s, your collection will soon be gathered. Jan in Castle Gresley

  7. I think we're all a work in progress, just that some have progressed a little faster than others! Mrs Trellis' story sounds intriguing. A good start on your vinyl collection. Andy Williams - just the thing to relax in front of the fire with. xx

  8. Do you leave things sticking out of your bin, with the lid cattywampus ? Our neighbor does this and it's not unusual to see a possum, or a raccoon taking advantage of the contents.
Loved your video yesterday, the music was enchanting.

  9. It sounds like a lovely day! Oooh, Andy Williams: "Moon River", you'll be sobbing gently into your gin! He had [has?] such a lovely voice. Good finds.

Did V E Isylwn remake your gate as promised?

  10. I had a lot of vinyl collected over the years. I gave it all to a fellow who had opened a record shop even though he didn't really want it. I suspect it went into his dumpster (bin). I have many CD'S but for some reason seldom play them.

  12. My guess is, you will enjoy the listening to the vinyl records. Andy Williams is a blast from the past. Your collection will grow quickly. Free records is a nice gift. Roger and his friend are well matched.

I never thought to pick a dim bulb as a puppy so they would be more easy going. I may now change my pick , if I get another pup.

  14. I love the pic of the Springer Spaniel in your post. My friend and neighbor had one, Ellie, who died a few years ago. A more lovable dog I've not know.
I have a turntable, but only a few records. Years back, I had hundreds, literally. I used to search around for the best needle units, and treat the records well. In the mid-70's I had a couple of those 5' high Bose speakers...lol.

  19. I bought that same Visitors album in the '80s. It's probably still languishing somewhere at my mother's house.
I'm glad Roger is easygoing. My previous pup had "little dog syndrome" and the current pup is deaf, so she's sometimes quick to snap if she feels uncomfortable.

  20. I didn’t realize Andy Williams was big across the sea. I loved him when I was a kid, I think because he had a weekly TV show.

  21. Maybe we should have all saved the LPS, mine went when we left Florida.

  22. We have had a bunch of snow here and now it is going to get very, very cold so I won't be going out much... Glad you are enjoying your new record player and collecting some nice albums.

  23. I remember Andy William's TV show. The bear was always trying to get at his cookies.

That's not meant to be a safe sex joke. It was a more innocent time.

Now, that really does sound like the perfect winter's day! I am one of the official litter pickers in my village, with my hi-vis jacket and pretty pink picking tongs. Was out this morning, and it is amazing the things that you find; a sandal size seven and a black M&S bra in the gutter for a start.
What a gay day collection of new second hand LP's! Enjoy them and be awash with memories of the past. That little turntable is going to get a hammering!

Go with the flow and leave litter on your drive for someone else to pick up? No wonder you're still single!

Glad you didn't get that comment either, John. Thought it was just me. PS. As an official diver up people's drives to rescue litter, I can assure dear Anonymous that the litter in people's drives is inevitably the result of drivers who selfishly lob stuff out of the car windows, or high winds as we have been suffering lately. Stuff all to do with being single or not. (Eh?)

  26. Some people have medical complaints that need continuous antibiotic therapy unfortunately. Sound thought and knowledge is applied to this treatment as well. It is not the easy way out.
As another nurse I have also been subject to long term antibiotic therapy, finished with now.
It is such a shame when people try to force their ideas on you, when there is no rhyme or reason to there thoughts.
Anyhow, take care and look after yourself

  27. I saw a TV show just last week that used Andy Williams' song "Music To Watch Girls By" and now I cannot get that freaking tune out of my head!!!

"The Visitors" was one of the first albums I bought, back in high school!
