I spent most of my day off getting my nursing paperwork signed off at work
It sort of felt like a waste of a day, an hour and a half commute in bad traffic
The sun came out and I picked some flowers from the garden to cheer up my office.
And for a good half hour , I lay down on the lawn and cloud watched ,Mary under one arm and Dorothy under the other.
The sky is filled with the vapour trails of aircraft
An Art Deco sunburst on a pale blue sky
And we all fell asleep
I like your wall John-that's a very nice wall-I remember when my dad was in his 50s and to me I thought he was too practical to mention this-I was visiting him and he was busy under his car doing oil or something and as he appeared he said"I never make time to look at the sky"x
ReplyDeleteAt least your wasted day is out of the way (until next time). There's nothing quite as nice as drifting off in the garden with the warm sun warming your bones. I'm sure you all benefited from that little doze, and I suspect one of you really needed it! xx
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely but I was shocked to see so many vapour trails
DeleteIt is not a waste of a day if it is something to do with your work that has to be done.
ReplyDeleteIt felt as awaste as it was my day off
DeleteJob done...and relax!
ReplyDelete😆
DeleteRelaxing with your friends and enjoying your garden is not a waste of a day...and you can forget about the paperwork now...sounds like a great day!
ReplyDeleteIt got better x
DeleteAs I once read, wasting time is never wasted. Well done in being finished with the required paperwork in the nick of time and for taking time out to watch the clouds with your near and dear.
ReplyDeleteLovely bouquet, too!
Hugs!
I always thought I was an optimist perhaps I’m not x lol
DeleteYou know,John, "sometimes you just have to sit and do nothing!" This is a quote from Winnie the Pooh's book: the Tao of Pooh. He's a very wise bear!
ReplyDeleteI read a quote once which said, "The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you're finished". Very true. You can relax now knowing you're up to date eith your paperwork.
ReplyDeleteYou could not have done that here John there has not been a single cloud in the sky all day. Love those flowers in that white jug.
ReplyDeleteAll done now for another year. Vapour trails here too - America route, I think.
ReplyDeleteare any if these vapor trail due to the afghanistan transportation? commercial plains are flying in and transporting people everywhere. maybe i am way off but it just a thought. i guess i am watching too much news.
ReplyDeleteShame on you for wasting your day.
ReplyDeleteAll those vapor trails mean people are traveling. I wonder what the popular destination is? Your flowers are beautiful. Solid gray cloud cover here, 80 degrees and showers.
ReplyDeleteIt is an Art Deco sunburst! Oh, is that a rocking-horse-head for a gravestone in the churchyard?
ReplyDeleteI think it's an optical illusion. A pointed gravestone with a cottage far behind it. I thought it was a unicorn!
DeleteAdie
Soul rest.

ReplyDeleteLove the Two Bad Mice image!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on completing your paperwork! Cloud watching has to be one of the most relaxing things you can do and good for you too. Beautiful flowers!
ReplyDeleteFeel good that it is now done ! .. a day we’ll spent. I love the sky photograph ….. you should frame it, it’s beautiful. XXXX
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers John. A little story for you: my friends spaniel Elsie recently had 8 sprocker pups. One named Diva, her in house name before re-homing, because she was a bit of one. I said it would be unfair to give her such a prescriptive name and that she needed a name that suggested the drama: Winifred (Winnie). That name has been adopted by her new owners and will live on. I thought of it of course because of your Winifred and her dramatic strops/ rubber chicken flinging/ generally awesome diva nature. Keep well. Steph
ReplyDeleteTime is always spent, but never wasted.
ReplyDeleteTime floating in the pool watching the clouds drift by, join me some summer,
ReplyDeletePurrrfect, John. Love the cheerful flowers as well. Stay well. Hugs from the base of the mini-mountain in Maine.
ReplyDeleteSo much smoke here we haven’t seen the sky in ages.
ReplyDeleteAs for your paperwork, procrastination does have a downside. Thank goodness for naps.
Tom Hodgkinson [founder of The Idler] recommends cloud watching as a good way to spend your time. I'm inclined to agree. Arilx
