Black Widows, Church Meetings and bad Humour

My meal on Tuesday bloody lovely

My next day off is Sunday, I’m back on nights Thursday, Fri and Saturday nights

Sunday afternoon my friend Colin and I are doing a gay afternoon
Lunch out and the Bette Davis movie Now Voyager at the Storyhouse….
I’ve told him we are drinking vodka martinis

I got myself all a bit fed up yesterday .
The good humour, meal out and theatre of Tuesday boosted me so much that I came down with a rather large bump yesterday
The day was boring and gray and wet
I mooched most of yesterday then met luckily Gorgeous Dave for a trip to the cinema
We had arranged to see a well reviewed art house horror movie Boys From County Hell at llandudno cineworld but they’re cancelled the showing due to “ lack of interest” ( obviously there is now a policy of cancelling poorly subscribed movies so that popular shite can be rescheduled instead ) so we went to see the awful Black Widow which is a dreadfully loud superhero thing. I knew it was a bad move because even my nephew Leo texted me that it was rubbish and he adores anything Marvel

Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow

Gorgeous Dave as Gorgeous  Dave

It was nice to catch up with Dave though,  who has agreed to accompany me to see Nigella Lawson later in the year
He giggled in the cinema when I said I would only go with a straight friend to see her in her one woman show…….she Is definitely one of his cougar crushes…every straight man I know fancies Nigella

Today I’m meeting with village leader Ian regarding a plan of action regarding the Church
Like I told u I’m back on nights tonight
Hey ho

  1. I have no interest in the comic book movies so I understand the change coming as a disappointment. Now Voyager is wonderful. My daughter adores Nigella.

I'd enjoy Nigella but you can have the scary movies - but you knew that about me.
Gorgeous Dave is! What kind eyes and nice smile.
Hope all is tranquil tonight. Safe trip home!

    Hugs!

Talk about ups and downs, swings and roundabouts! I am off to see The Courier tomorrow, favourite director, favourite actor and first venture to a cinema in almost two years. If National Theatre relays happen near you, I recommend Sondheim's Follies on September 2. And Jane Campion's film of Thomas Savage's The Power Of The Dog out next month. Amazing unforgettable book. Cannot recommend highly enough.

I’m not a lover of Sondheim

    2. Well, I guess you could leave me the house
      Leave me the flat
Leave me the Braques and Chagalls
      And all that
You could leave me the stocks for sentiment's sake
And ninety percent of the money you make
And the rugs and the cooks
      Darling, you keep the drugs
      Angel, you keep the books
      Honey, I'll take the grand
      Sugar, you keep the spinet
And all of our friends and
      Just wait a goddamn minute

  5. I don't go to cinemas any more, I find that very loud and tinny sound too much. I watch my movies at home (if at all).

  7. What a disappointment - a cancelled movie, then a bad one. Still, at least you got to spend some time with Gorgeous Dave, so not a total waste of time. Not long to wait until Sunday. I hope the nights shifts fly by. xx

  8. Your meal looks delicious. Your friend look so lovely! That is not good news that the cinema is cancelling films which are unusual.

Hope the church meeting goes well too.

I prefer the small art house cinemas

  12. I have not been to a movie house ever since the pandemic sent us home. I was thinking that I'd go see Aretha Franklin's biopic that comes out this weekend, but with the Delta variant running rampant because of the unvaccinated here in the States, I'm kind of rethinking it.
I'd like to see Black Widow but I'll wait until they stream it for free. I know someone who has Disney+.
    And Gorgeous Dave is gorge.

    XOXO

  15. I liked Black Widow. It's rare we get an action film in which 98% of the cast is female.

  17. Our cinemas are often empty because they've priced themselves out of reach for many. Cancelling showings that do not sell is policy here too. Poor shows seem to out number great shows. Your outdoor theater seemed superior to cinema.

  19. I've never understood the appeal of Nigella Lawson, but then, I'm not straight. Maybe that's why.

How weird that they cancelled the movie for "lack of interest." Did you prebook tickets? It's pretty rude for them to cancel if they knew even two people were coming!

I had about all the Marvel movies I could tolerate while visiting my brother and nieces a few weeks ago. I think I'm done with them for six months at least!

    And Nigella? Yum.

Th8s is not me John! I'm Adie from Amsterdam. What a horrible remark from Anonymous. I'm so sorry my question lead to it. I did see the film and for me it turned out to be painful too, be it for different reasons. Love Adie

  24. My view of Nigella Lawson is that she is the coke snorting, privileged daughter of a fat Tory chancellor who was given a big "leg up" into TV stardom having earlier enjoyed an expensive private education. Not for me.

  25. That’s what you call a plateful !!!! Nigella gets on my wick now …. She overplays the sexy so much …. I don’t know why she bothers to cook anything but then she needs something for the lip licking 🤣😂🤣 XXXX
