But I fucked up and bought a ticket for yesterday's performance by mistake
An arsehole mistake for an arsehole day.
Tonight I've drank gin, nibbled peanuts and have watched Key Largo
Winnie loves Humphrey Bogart but she seemed rather more moved by that famous Claire Trevor Scene moanin low.....she oh so deserved her Oscar
We are off to see the London revival of ALL ABOUT EVE
I admit I have seen better days..... but I'm still not to be had for the price of a cocktail.....like a salted peanut !"
Oh John. Really wish for you some happy times.x
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the movie!
DeleteYou need to get tret better, as they say in Yorkshire.
ReplyDeleteI agree...... remember I am a honesty sheffielder xx
DeleteOh gawd ... trust you, you loveable idiotic tithead 🤣🤣
ReplyDeleteI thank you
DeleteOh my I remember that scene clearly from Key largo it was so hard to watch then and again now, good on you John stick up for your self, 'seen better days but not to be had" important attitude through this crucial time.
ReplyDeleteWe are all rooting for you.
We have all had the wrong day/time. It is just something we all do one time or the other.
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip
Welcome to the human race!
ReplyDeleteoh John, wish I could give you a hug. None of us are to be had for the price of a cocktail peanut.
ReplyDeleteHugging you always from Kansas!
ReplyDeleteA good film can get you through the day. I admit to love movies with good stories and no green screens. I like actors, not technology.
ReplyDeleteWonderful old movies are the best but Winnie is still a charmer! And then there are some days like the St. Trinian's ones ...!
ReplyDeleteHugs and good night from Virginia :)
I had forgotten that Claire Trevor won an Oscar for that movie. I haven't seen it in ages. Maybe it'll be one for the Bank Holiday weekend! Sorry you missed your play -- that's a drag. :(
ReplyDeleteHow frustrating but we all get the wrong day at some time or other. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteLife can be a right B at times. Huge hugs and have a great time with Nu.xxx
ReplyDeleteIt does happen.....went to see Annie with a friend. We sat down in the theatre and when a powdered wig appeared on the stage I said "where is the dog?". We were a day too early.
ReplyDeleteWell I'm a checker and a double checker so, no, unlike what some of your readers have said, it doesn't happen to me, but bad luck John. Make sure you check your other bookings for this coming week, much more crucial. Enjoy what you have of the weekend x
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you are seeing Nu - I think she is so good for you and a truly good friend.
ReplyDeleteI've never missed a booking because I got the wrong day, but I have, more than once turned up for night shifts at work a day early! What makes it even worse is that it a 90 minute, 2 bus journey!
ReplyDeleteAfter being unable to attend an expensive concert due to migraine, we've stopped booking. If it sells out, it sells out and we may have to pay more on the day, but at least that way it's not totally wasted money.
Have done this a couple of times. I also once threw away my husband's Rolling Stones tickets by mistake. I wasn't popular.
ReplyDeleteI think you should be asked to stand and take a bow when that line is uttered!
ReplyDeleteDid you go anyway or at least call the theater? You never know, they might honor the ticket if they had seats--maybe the ticket person is a fan of yours?
ReplyDeleteI had to look up the moanin' low...sounds like an abusive relationship, nasty.
