The tiler came at 8.30 and left Winnie bereft at 1pm .
She is beside herself with tradesmen after workman +++ have been visiting the cottage over the past 3 weeks!.
She watched his every move and even followed him to the toilet at one point.
He made a good job of it
( the tiling not the toilet visit)
The kitchen is now almost finished, save for some painting and titivating .
It is looking good
ReplyDeleteThat looks fab! Are they IKEA wooden worktops? I have them and they are great, just sand any stains off and whack on the IKEA oil. Each coat looks better and better x
ReplyDeleteI'll have to pick your brains on the oil thing Nanny people say they get sticky if you use too much
DeleteAs long as you use it sparingly and buff it well (ooher missus) it should be fine. Lots of thin coats work better than one oil slick-as I found to my cost! x
DeleteWere you able to get your floor straightened out?
ReplyDeleteLove those backsplash tiles. Gives me an idea what I need to put on mine, The cupboards have only been up there for 14 years....
DeleteI'm still waiting for the floor but it's in hand x
DeleteSomewhere
ReplyDeletePrior post.
DeleteIt's a lovely song
DeleteLove those subway tiles!
ReplyDeleteLooking great, straight out of a magazine.
ReplyDeleteBut which one?

DeleteSex & The Kitchen Magazine....
DeleteWow! What a transformation!
ReplyDeleteIt's looking great. I have a serious case of kitchen envy. X
ReplyDeleteLooking great, love the tiles. You did a fab job of designing and planning the new kitchen and like the commenter above I now too have kitchen envy. Those tiles just finish it off so well.
ReplyDeleteThat looks great. I too have a case of kitchen envy. Lovely soft colors that will make cooking a pleasure.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen looks so nice. As my grandkids would say "awesomeness". You must walk in and just sigh.
ReplyDeleteLove it! It will be easy to keep clean too.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Maria x
Gorgeous! Magazine worthy! You and IKEA should be very proud.
ReplyDeleteAre the tiles soft grey instead of original choice of duck egg?
No they are sage green but in the light they do look grey!
DeleteI like both colours
It looks nice and worth the trouble.
ReplyDeletewould love to see the before and after pix for best effect. wish MY kitchen looked that good.
ReplyDeleteBefore was a battered 1980s misatched number. I was ashamed
DeleteIt looks SO WONDERFUL! It will be a pleasure for you to cook, bake and create in that kitchen.
ReplyDeleteThe stove top is great! I use mine as extra counter space. If you get a burned on splash you can use a razor blade and it comes off with ease and no damage to the glass. Good choices on everything!
ReplyDeleteI need all these tips..keep em coming x
DeleteThere's a little blade with a handle you can pick up from the DIY shop that's easier to use than just a blade. My mum managed to melt a plastic placemat onto her hob, but after a bit of elbow grease (and some ceramic hob cleaner too) it's like new. Lovely looking kitchen you have now, I think you've just confirmed for me that we'll be having a wooden worktop in ours!
DeleteBeautiful...
ReplyDeleteI would like to compliment you on your choice of tiles - both the colour and the brick shape. They go perfectly with the new kitchen units.
ReplyDeleteThank younYP
DeleteBeadboard. Be still my heart.
ReplyDeleteLovely - enjoy
ReplyDeleteGorgeous new kitchen. Kitchen counters are on my "to do" list. There are so many possible choices.
ReplyDeleteLooks well posh! Well done.
ReplyDeleteWorthy of a glossy magazine ad. - what a transformation.
ReplyDeleteEvery meal will be Cordon Bleu standard from now on - no excuses!
Poor Winnie - what's next for the transformation - the bathroom? You can't leave the poor girl bereft!
So pretty John.....you will be inspired by your new kitchen I am sure.
ReplyDeleteJust lovely, the tiles are perfect. Enjoy your titivating!
ReplyDeleteWill we be seeing lots of cooking/baking posts now? You need to do that kitchen full justice! (So a possible cook book to follow the blog life book?!)
I'll bore the guts off you with them
DeleteCharming. Calming. Clean. Practical. I would love for my kitchen to be like yours.
ReplyDeleteIt's a first for me.....charming, clean etc etc
DeleteSwoon-worthy!!
ReplyDeleteOh, it's gorgeous, John. And your comment on the workman made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely - particularly like the tiling. And keep up the good work Winnie!!
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen looks beautiful, love the countertops!
ReplyDeletelooking lovely !
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the new kitchen lurve xxx
ReplyDeleteLovely! The backsplash really adds a lot, doesn't it? Sort of brings the whole room together, at least in the experience of my own kitchen.
ReplyDeleteIt’s beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDebbie
New kitchen looks wonderful. John, do you know what has happened to Frugal Queen's blog. I cannot access it and wonder if you and others have the same problem. Love to doggies et al, Janx.
ReplyDeleteNo...I haven't logged in recently , let me try again
DeleteFrugal Queen has given up her site.
DeleteSad
DeleteYes, very sad.
DeleteWhat a shame. I enjoyed her blog. I do hope she is OK and not had a bad experience. Thank you Anonymous. Janxx
DeleteIt's lovely, well worth the wait x
ReplyDeleteWow! That looks beautiful! Cook in your new kitchen in good health!
ReplyDeleteXxx June
I love that tile! Perfect choice.
ReplyDeleteIt is looking wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLovely! Your cabinets are very much the same color as the last kitchen I had.
ReplyDeleteWant a month in DC? I have a kitchen that needs doing, and this looks WONDERFUL.
ReplyDeletecountry style but without the chintz! did you ever think of becoming a stylist?
ReplyDeleteFANCY PANCY! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteLove your new kitchen very swish. Wonder what your animals think of it? Love Andie xxx
ReplyDeleteShiny place to pee
DeleteAppreciating your new kitchen style... fresh but in keeping with the cottage era. So often you see ultra modern which grates with the period of the house.
ReplyDeleteWe are currently building.. just got our windows delivered all double glazed and all damaged from transport.. hair pulling exercise to get attention at this time of year- once delivered they don't give much of a damn!!
Enjoy your efforts and planning your great space and lots of cuddles to Winnie who will be missing the visits by tradies ;)
Looks splendid, is it the sort of kitchen you can live in doing all your stuff, while the prof is in his study. I'm guessing yes if you do have room for a table dogs at your feet. My activity centre I eventually realised was the sitting room coffee table cos my kitchen is too small for a table sigh.
ReplyDeleteWe have a lovely but small John Lewis dining table to go into the kitchen x
DeleteDang, that is one beautiful kitchen!!!
ReplyDeleteBig fan of both beadboard and subway tiles, here! Did you buy any new accessories (e.g. things to put on your counter, knife rack, paper towel holder...) for the kitchen? -Jenn
ReplyDeleteTons. All hidden away until today x
DeleteI love it! what a beautiful job you've done (and had done). As for the tiler, I'm very sorry to read that he didn't make a good job of the toilet visit.
ReplyDeleteLooking spiffed!
ReplyDeleteI too like the bead board and subway tile, color, size!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It looks amazing and very nice choice of the backwall tiles!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe kitchen looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWow that looks fab 😊I didn't realise you were getting a new kitchen!! 😁😂😁😉
