William searching for butterflies
Lunch out, some shopping.....a snooze on the couch for The Prof.......it's all mundane but nicely so.
William, with his failing eyesight, can no longer focus of the small honeybees as they potter around the garden, but with the three buddleia in the garden, the cottage garden is now filled with butterflies.
William can see butterflies .
He has just spent a free spirited half hour chasing several red admirals and a bunch of delicate cabbage whites as they flutter inbetween the shrubbery
Great pic. The garden looks safe from butterflies.
ReplyDeleteNot a bugger to be seen when I got my camera out
DeleteLovely William. How did the flower show go today and yesterday? Did you win any of the categories? :)
ReplyDeleteYes! Got 2 seconds and two thirds!
DeleteCongratulations! Who came first in the boiled fruit cake category? Was it your 'rival'? :)
DeleteNo thats our show in the village... next Saturday!
DeleteOh! I was a bit ahead of myself! I look forward to reading about it next week then! x
DeleteObviously William needs glasses but you might need an elastic band to keep them on his head.
ReplyDeleteAw....sweet William......
ReplyDeletea great way to spend a saturday for everyone. is that a gargoyle amongst the flowers?
ReplyDeleteteddy can't see much of anything anymore. her hearing is shot too. it's so sad but at least she has lived a long good life.
ReplyDeleteRed butterflies - I'd love to see those. William must make you smile chasing those around.
ReplyDeleteAnimals and children adapt to disability so much better than the rest of us. But it still can break your heart.

ReplyDeleteOld dogs are so sweet but my heart is breaking.

That free spirited chasing probably brought William back to puppyhood for a few moments.
ReplyDeleteHe looks such a lovely gentle dog.
ReplyDeleteI adore Red Admirals John - there are so many around here at present that I think they are the spirit of the farmer come back to visit me. I know it is silly but it gives me a great deal of comfort.
That is not silly. It's beautiful.
DeleteYes pat it's sweet x
DeleteI think that is lovely.
DeleteAnd who knows, it may be true x

I love your blog , please do not give it up all the best Love Joan XX
Rick chases butterflies, and bees, and birds. Anything that moves really. I'm frightened he will get stung.
ReplyDeleteHeart tugger...
ReplyDeleteLoving sweet William. And hope you have some of the sweet william plants in your garden.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing your dog William. He looks like a lovely furry friend.
ReplyDeleteLook below x
DeleteSimple pleasures for an old dog yet. Rember a load of 50 round straw bales the 4 foot kind dropped of next to a flowering thistle patch covered and covered with hundreds of red admirals allas a bale of straw carries no nectar to sip.
ReplyDeleteWilliam is a such a gentle old dog...who hides a playful side.....he has been my sweetest dog to date x
DeleteThat must have been lovely to watch. There is still life in the old dog yet.
ReplyDeleteI have gargoyle-envy!
ReplyDeleteMr Him is very keen on budleija. I just ordered what I thought was a 2.5m tall mature one and a trolley to move it on arrival. Turns out it was 2ft high . Still it only cost £12. I should have known better.
ReplyDeleteIt must be a joy seeing William still showing some of the puppy in him.
ReplyDeleteHe's more than welcome to come and chase the cabbage whites off my kale if he wants, we have plenty to share with him.:-)
