I was seventeen when Manhattan, Woody Allen's homage to New York, was released and I had forgotten just how beautiful the city was captured by the movie's black and white cinematography.
The story of neurotic, naturally funny Midtown academics, remains, clever and amusing and certainly iconic but it was not quite as funny as I liked to remember so I was tickled pink when I got home to see a homemade film trailer in my email inbox from the affable despots!
It is a film trailer from the up and coming Trelawnyd based film Chapel Street!
Enjoy!
Chapel Street is the oldest street in the village
Ps what I love about manhattan was the way many of the scenes were set up with the major actors in the foreground just to the side of extras in the background...the extras' stories were just as important as the main actors....watch it and you will agree
Well, now, isn't that cool! Well, done!
ReplyDeleteThat is GREAT!!!!
ReplyDeletewell now, aren't those pretty girls clever! when will the film be released? think it will win a BAFTA or an OSCAR?
ReplyDeleteAnd who will play me in the movie! ?
Deleterussell crowe, OF COURSE!
DeleteI thought Winnie,
DeleteIt was quite spooky!
ReplyDeleteI see you enjoyed your cinema visit so much. Great movie too!
ReplyDeleteSo many people have changed their minds on Manhattan, mostly because of Woody Allen and his alleged actions. I still think Manhattan is the ultimate ode to a city I loved, and experienced off and on for 30 years.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest and I were in the village one evening after dinner, walking along the nearly deserted streets, and I suddenly started singing "Bleecker Street"....she thought I'd lost my mind. We were on Bleecker St., btw.
Chapel Street looks quite creepy .. I would have to have someone with me to see it :)
ReplyDeleteI have never heard one person say anything negative about Manhattan /The City because of Woody Allen. How strange that people/adults don't know the difference in a film and real life.
Love
ReplyDeleteAwesome trailer!
ReplyDeleteI don't see your name in the credits at the end, though, John ... did they pass you over for someone with fewer pet duties??
The trailer is very cool and spooky.
ReplyDeleteManhattan---I d love to see it again, in a theater.
Brillent !
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip and thehamish
Those girls will go far. Excellent.
ReplyDeleteWell done to Liv! For a young lass she is already showing a sophisticated awareness of cinematographic techniques. She should follow "Chapel Street" up with "The Cottage By The Church" starring Julian Clary as John Gray.
ReplyDeleteVery sophisticated, and a seriously spooky trailer. Can't wait to see the rest of the film, but I'll have to watch it from behind the sofa !
ReplyDeleteGreat start, I hope it is a comedy
ReplyDeleteJust looked at Woody Allen's filmography on IMDB, and I think the only one I've ever seen is 'Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask', and that was so long ago I remember nothing about it apart from some blokes dressed as sperm.
ReplyDeleteLove the trailer :-)
ReplyDeleteI love all Woody Allen films. Just a pity he had some bad personal habits!
ReplyDeleteThe Chapel Street trailer is a triumph.
