  1. We are going to have a cook-out and ice-cream-making party to celebrate some things going on here. So in a few hours, my house and yard will be filled with kids and babies and all good things.
    Hopefully.

  2. Watering! It's too hot for sustaining life without lots of water. My plants are in survival mode. That's August in the Sierra Nevada foothills in California. We're all in survival mode until it cools down in September/October. Our German exchange student was amazed it didn't rain from May, when she arrived, until late September. Golden California got it's name from all the golden brown grass all summer long. It's perfect for starting and expanding wildfires. This is our nervous time of year.

  3. Well, it is my son's birthday and while not here physically, in spirit. He is the sparkle in my eyes. And, I was just in my zen moment on the back porch watching the lake and flowers, when I drank a fly in my energy drink. I spat it out, but the moment was somewhat ruined.

  4. After watering our courgettes and runner beans, I am watching the Olympic golf tournament on the TV... Is lying on concrete the best way for a lady to cool her nipples? Surely there are better ways... perhaps involving ice cubes or squirty cream from the fridge.

  6. I persuaded husband & son to cut the hedge, honeysuckle & Jasmine back a good way as all very overgrown so I raked up all the cuttings. Daughter took the dog to the cool streams for a splash & cool down.
Now a shoulder of lamb is going on the BBQ. Happy Sunday x

  7. staying inside with the air conditioner; it is over 100F here and dangerous for an asthmatic (like me) to be outside. me nips are quite cool, TYVM.

knitting and reading and baseball will occupy my time today; I am baking 2 loaves of honey oatmeal bread; tonight will be a pasta & homemade meatballs dinner with a chilled riesling wine.

happy to see things are better in wales today.

  8. Ah, just as all should be in Trelawnyd.
It's going to be about 100 degrees here, so I am first tidying and then taking myself off to a lovely air conditioned theater to see "Florence Foster Jenkins". Pretty sure there might be a few laughs in there and maybe some popcorn/choc.raisins/etc...

  9. Sounds like a perfect afternoon in Trelawnyd. In south west France we are skulking indoors trying to stay cool. The heat is fierce here today.

  10. Watching The Walking Dead rerun marathon while doing piddly chores! It's too hot to even go to the beach today!

  11. I'll be cooling my nipples with a swim at our local Wellness Center before they close the pool for two weeks for a much needed locker room renovation. Now, if they could only do something about the ladies who sit around buck naked letting everything hang out...

  12. We weeded the garden, cleaned the house, shut all the windows and shades and turned bad on the A/C. Now I will eat lunch, which I seem to have skipped.

  13. Sounds like a perfectly relaxing day. Enjoy.

  14. today I'm being a plumbers mate, hubby is fitting a new basin and I running up and downstairs to shouts of, 'Can I have a coffee', 'Can you get the pipe cutters' and 'Can you go to B&Q and get me some inch and a quarter waste'. I'm knackered!

  19. Today I am sweeping up, laundering bedding and towels, and cleaning the entire house after a lovely week of family visitors, they all left yesterday. Once pillow covers are hanging out on the line to dry I plan to nap in the quiet house with my cat in my lap(who spent the entire week hiding from their big big dog!).

  20. Seems all is fine in Wales.
I sat outside before the temp zoomed to 95+ with lighting, thunder and rain .
Lay down somewhere and no matter what a Scotty will find you.
    Love that photo.

  23. Not a great deal - it's too hot to do much, so just an hour or so in the pool and relaxing. Going for another swim shortly before bed.
Hope the fabulous Winnie's nipples keep cool, bless her.

  24. Finishing off a patchwork quilt that has taken me about two years. I fell out of love with it ages ago, but i'm having a phase of finishing things off before I start new things. Tis not my nature at all- I am a great starter of new things and a rubbish completer.

  25. Monday here. We went to a kite festival which didn't happen (no wind) and came home and did domestic duties.

  26. I took a ride with my daughter to a new part of town that I doubt I will go to by myself... I will get lost and be pitiful.
But she told me how to order groceries online and have them delivered and I am thrilled. I hate going to the grocery store.
In the US ... anywhere outside of the US is fine. I just can't bear these huge superstores ..
It is hot, humid with thunderstorms rumbling out there ..
If it ever should come to that, I will remember what Winnie does to cool off. (Lets hope this never happens to me)

  28. Worked all day in air conditioned splendor. Came home to 90 degrees (let's see...32 Celsius) and about 75% humidity. That is too dang hot and sticky for us New Englanders. The weather needs to get it's shit together. Dinner? Pftttt! I think dear Winnie and her nipples have the right idea. Am giving it serious consideration. X

  29. My God Camille ... it is hotter in New Hampshire than in Florida ! at least my part of Florida ;)

    1. I know! This happens every August and every time we all sit around whining and acting pissy. But then again, you also get all of us crazy snowbirds to deal with in a few months! X

  30. I've been inside this afternoon making supper for the troops. Your afternoon sounds quite lovely. Too hot here for much of anything. All dogs want to stay inside. Humans too....

  33. Well I was sowing Swede seeds around a new compost bin that LH made me to go in the centre of various raised beds on the Veggie Patch and having a good tidy of Chicken World, replenishing feeders drinkers etc.

Mavis was escaping and ended up at the campsite opposite. She seems drawn to the sound of children playing.

  34. Well....looking after four shops and meeting people from all over Canada and the US. Loads of fun!!

  35. Today I'm wine tasting in Colorado - who knew that Colorado climate could grow good grapes!

  36. Floated in the pool, read a trashy summer beach novel, watched the sun set over the beach and ocean, enjoying the sea breeze tonight. Only sad note is my little dog, a Pug, cannot go out in the 94* heat, and he doesn't understand why not.

  37. In and out of the pool, teaching a two-year-old to swim. We're almost there!

  38. I was a bit tired after selling raffle tickets for our brigade at a local fete in the morning, so we watched a couple of episodes of Elementary to recover, then I did some mowing using the ride-on (it's a lot of work in winter here now there is no horse here to graze all the grass) but after that I played guitar on the back step, catching the last of the afternoon winter sun. That was the best bit. :)

  39. I was watching the Olympics which, I'm now staggered to discover, everyone else WASN'T!

  41. So that is how ladies of a certain age keep cool is it??? I wonder what my neighbours would think if I try it.... now stop imagining it. The truth would be pretty horrible.

  42. Reliving backpacking days of long ago by staying the Youth Hostel next to Central Station in Sydney because of an early dental appointment on Monday morning. Sunday afternoon was spent relaxing in the TV room with a glass of wine watching the Olympics having hidden the remote so that no one could change the channel.
