One of the donated cakes...delivered yesterday |
Over fifty people from the village have " volunteered " to bake for Sunday
I have a lot to do today
Tea tables and chairs need collecting,
As do a set of loaned crisp white tablecloths
Donated raffle prizes from the Garden Centre need picking up,
Health and safety signs need laminating
And after a " dry run" of decorating the field...I am short third feet or so of multicoloured bunting.
Where do you find bunting at the last minute ?
The gazebos are all ready to put up but I do need to get more rope to secure them as there will be a brisk breeze on Sunday.
oh I am short of tea towels.
mother in Law Sorrel is up visiting, so I will ask her to get me some when she goes shopping with Chris this afternoon.
The floats for stalls need collecting, and oh buggery, bugger.....bugger it .....I have forgotten the soddin raffle tickets....
Chicken feed needs buying, the dogs need a walk and as if I have not got enough to do
.........
one of the hens has just had a friggin prolapse
Oh course one of the hens has had a friggen prolapse. She thought that your attention has shifted away from her...
ReplyDeleteOh, EC - you made me laugh out loud!
DeleteSending help virtually x
ReplyDeleteBung it back and carry on.
ReplyDeleteLLX
I just have!
DeleteI wish I could have sent you one... good luck x
ReplyDeleteJohn you do 'under pressure' very well. I am sure it will all come together. Maybe Chris and Sorrel can run up a bit of bunting for you? I hope your hen makes it through ok. x
ReplyDeleteIf I was nearer I would run some bunting up for you bit far in France. Never come across a prolapsed womb in a chicken so not sure what I would do there. Animlas seem to hasve a knack of mis behaving when your busy, just as I started to cook a meal for 7 paying gite guests last night our sow and one of the cows went into labour. meant husband was serving while checking on birthing mums.
ReplyDeletegood luck with Sunday, would love to visit and meet all the animals.
Sending calming thoughts your way.....would love to be there to help. I've created my own personal hell by volunteering to milk our neighbors cow for three nights!
ReplyDeleteVery impressed you haven't tucked in to any of the cake yet. x
ReplyDeleteMust be all the tension of knowing visitors are coming that caused the poor dear to have health issues.
ReplyDeleteBunting.....did the flower show use bunting?
At school I was told I had a good imagination. Did that mean I lied a lot? Even with a good imagination, I cannot possibly imagine a chicken with prolapse. Wasn't there some bunting I showed recently that you disliked? I won't bother sending that then.
ReplyDelete50 people ready to bake? That's a lof of sweets. Good thing I'm not there or I would be gobbling every one's cake!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be a great success. Breathe.
ReplyDeleteI could have sent you reams of my handmade bunting if I'd known!
ReplyDeleteIt's almost Monday, John. Just keep moving.
ReplyDelete...and breathe. If that fails, a bucket of G&T often works.
ReplyDeleteJane x
Just take a deep breath every hour. Then carry on...
ReplyDelete"Tuck in" and then carry on!
ReplyDeleteIt'll be great John! Best of luck and have a blast!
ReplyDeleteAnd who was it who said that life was terribly dull in the country?
ReplyDeleteStay drunk all weekend, you'll sail through everything that comes your way :-D
ReplyDeleteYou can reduce the prolapse yourself with a good bit of Vaseline but don't smoke around her afterwards as Vaseline does has petroleum in it and you don't need to deal with a half roasted bird right now.
ReplyDeleteProlapse back in place!
DeleteFingers crossed
X
Emergency bunting = fabric or paper triangles + a roll of ribbon or string + a normal office stapler .... and away you go.
ReplyDeleteDon't get confused and staple back the prolapse though, you just use your medical training for that and push it back in :-)
My god I'm in a dither just reading it.
ReplyDeleteIt always happens, the second you are busy or visitors stuff happens. With me it is usually a leak in the ceiling or a rush to the ER !
ReplyDeleteRemember to breathe every once in awhile.
cheers, parsnip
What time does it start?
ReplyDeleteWell now, people do say "if you want something done, ask a busy person" works well doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteI am sure that it will all come together at the right time.
One foot in front of the other, rinse, repeat ...
ReplyDeleteCan you buy paper or plastic bunting in the stationery store, perhaps? Or Sue's idea sounds just as fast, maybe faster.
Thanks for all your comments....
ReplyDelete14 cakes have arrived so far
I cup cake disaster ( dropped box!)
Raffle tickets have been obtained!
Several bottles of wine donated
And the prolapse has been returned
Ps I got the bunting too
DeleteWill you be drinking the "several bottles of wine"? Honestly, John, you seem to get the most done when you are the busiest and most frantic. And now I'm tired; think I'll return to my recliner.
ReplyDeleteNancy in Iowa

DeleteI hope it's all going well John...I'm sure it will be a huge success.
ReplyDeleteSending good thoughts for you and the hen and hoping it all goes well--I have a feeling it will!!
ReplyDeleteOh, John. *hugs* ♥
ReplyDeleteHope you have found some colored paper for your bunting; hope all has gone well, and I hope the best for your chicken.
Have a great weekend!
Fantastic John. Hope all goes well, but if there are hiccoughs, then hope they are little ones and easily fixable.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck to you, Sir for the Open Day. Make lots of dosh for your chosen charity and most importantly, ENJOY! Wish I could just pop down for some tea and cake......maybe lucky for you I can't!!x
ReplyDeleteGlad the prolapse has, er, been returned. I haven't seen one of those yet (knock wood) and wouldn't know what to do if it happened!
ReplyDeleteHell, you missed a great opportunity for another money raiser. "First to return the prolapse wins choice of jam or cake!" Kind of like the sword in the stone, only in reverse.
ReplyDeleteI hope your Open Day is enjoyable and successful. You've been working hard at it!
Life in the fast lane...
