Sylvia WAS The Flower Show |
The humour of yesterday's post, belied a very real sense of sadness that circulated through certain factions of Trelawnyd yesterday as the health of matriarch village stalwart ,champion cake maker and Flower Show Diva, Sylvia Evans deteriorated in hospital.
The phone has rung a few times this Morning, every caller passing on the sad news that Sylvia had indeed passed away .
My thoughts are with her family today
The village has lost someone quite special.
What a star she was, we mourn the loss of a young star from our village... bless them both x
ReplyDeleteFarewell Sylvia...the rest of us will be joining you quite soon.
ReplyDeleteThat isn't even funny.
DeleteIt wasn't meant to be funny Nana Go-Go, just a reflection on the fleeting nature of human life.
DeleteThat is one of the good things about village life John. Everyone can share in the sadness of Sylvia's death and that makes it easier for her family to bear. Your village show will miss her terribly - we had a similar instance last year at the village show where the farmer is the veggie judge - and how she is going to be missed this year - but her name lives on.
ReplyDeleteWhat sad news. I'm sorry for her families loss and your villages loss. Your flower show will be rather poignant this year.
ReplyDeleteR.I.P. Sylvia. I trust she departed knowing how much she'd been appreciated.
ReplyDeleteSad news John.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow. I'm so sorry :-( I only ever met her once but she was indeed a lovely lady and very funny, too. Her family are in my thoughts.
ReplyDeletethat is a wonderful photo of her in front of all the baked goods!
ReplyDeleteSo, so sorry. Was she the lovely lady to whom I sent my Flower Show stuff to last year? Sympathies to all of you. x
ReplyDeleteWe can all hope to be so fondly remembered. Hugs to all of Trelawnyd.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for the loss of Sylvia....your and the village will have loving memories.
ReplyDeletesorry to hear of your loss... these people are more important in what they do than all those you see on the tv taking the plaudits... a special person indeed
ReplyDeleteWill you dedicate this year's show to her?
ReplyDeleteJane x
that would be a wonderful idea....
DeleteI think this would be a fantastic idea.
DeleteSo sad for your village to lose one of it's much loved people.

R.I.P.
ReplyDeleteI can see by the display of her goodies she must have indeed been the focus of the Flower Show. What memories of sweetness she has left behind ... xx
ReplyDeleteSo very sorry. It's always sad to lose those pillars of the community. There are very few left in the community I live in. When I was growing up it was like a village. Everyone knew everyone. These days I hardly know anyone!
ReplyDeleteMy condolences on your loss.
ReplyDeleteAh, another loss...so sorry to hear it, John.
ReplyDeleteOur thoughts are for you John and your lovely little village. God bless Sylvia.
ReplyDeleteRIP, Sylvia.
ReplyDeleteJohn, isn't your Soay, Sylvia named for her?
And, i also think to dedicate this year's flower show, if not already passed, to her.
My condolences to her family. She looks like a real good gal in the photo. Maybe there could be a prize given out for baked goods that bears her name.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that John. I hope she didn't suffer too much.
ReplyDeleteIt's never easy but she will always be with you.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this, John. She will be missed. Love the photo of her presiding over all the baking!
ReplyDeleteSuch very sad news, but I'm sure Sylvia would ask you and the village to remember those words...The Show Must Go On.
ReplyDeleteSo go for it in Sylvia's name. xxx
So sorry for your loss, John. May she rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you lost your friend. She sounds like a very interesting lady. May she rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for everybody's loss, John! She will be missed as 'leaders' of her caliber are.
ReplyDelete*hugs* and Condolences to everyone who knew her. ♥
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read John.
ReplyDeleteSincere condolences to her family and all the villagers whose lives she touched.
RIP sweet lady.

It is especially sad to lose a lady who gave so much of herself & her talents to Trelawnyd. Perhaps part of Sylvia's legacy will be the way she made a difference in the quality of life you experience in your village. Sylvia served as both a community leader & an active participant in the towns' social life. It sounds like she was a mover & shaker of the village as well as a baker. People like Sylvia can make all the difference when it comes to living where people work together for common goals & maintain a good quality of life.
ReplyDeletePerhaps one of Sylvias' legacies will be that she insprired others to volunteer & make a difference by actively participate in Tredlawnyd's social life.
Perhaps, next year, the Flower Show organizers will commerate Sylvia's contributions by hororing her in some way at future flower shows.
Right now, is the time to acknowledge a special woman's passing, but more importantly celebrate her life.
People who are so active in their communities are greatly missed when they pass on. Sometimes it's the end of a chapter, really. Sympathies to her family.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you've lost a friend, and the village has lost a treasure. :(
ReplyDeleteHow very sad. Sorry to hear this John. x
