Amusing Self

I wrote this blog almost a year ago
http://disasterfilm.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/mrs-spriggs-and-buggy.html
and I re read it by chance last night.
I seldom go in for self praise but I must say, it amused me greatly
Mrs Spriggs, I was told recently, passed away a few months ago

so happy she had a chance on the "invalid buggy"...Don had one, he liked to do wheelies at the VA! "Mrs. Spriggs" sounds quite the character...may she RIP...I hope she has a "buggy" in heaven...but then maybe now she doesn't need it.

  9. Yes, I remember it from before John - even funnier this time though as a friend has just been lent one. It is an off road version and she came to a tree root which she thought was a bit too rough for it so she got of and thought to guide it over the root and then get back on. Of course it shot away when she held the handlebars and knocked her down in the process. She has sent it back!
    Parcel posted today.

  11. That was a funny one, fer sure... but poor Mrs. Spriggs.

Hey, since she's unable to use the scooter, being not alive and all, maybe you could take it out for a spin?

  12. Hard to believe it's been a year since I giggled at that post! Did she get one to keep, at least while she was around to enjoy it?

  13. What a memory that one is. You nailed her wobbly voice perfectly.

Have you ever seen "Waking Ned Devine"? The motorized old lady in that movie was evil, not sweet like the lovely and bold Mrs. Spriggs.

  15. lol probably never driven a car or read the highway code!

I saw one before with what looked like 2 skate boards strapped to the back, and he dragged the kids to school. Beats walking

  17. Oh my, have I been reading you for a year or more? Surely I've got something more important to read? Ha! Not likely. Carry on, my friend, carry on.

There are so many of them out there now...running down innocent people on the sidewalks and careening off onto the road way to give motorists the heeby jeebies.

  19. I hope they supply her with a scooter where ever she find herself.....lots of time to practice.

I remember that post well. I've been visiting here over a year, and have finally figured out how to leave a comment (I hope)! I'm kinda old and not too great with the tech stuff. ;)

Visiting here is one of the highlights of my day...so, thank you John.

By the way...you have the most brilliant commenters! A very witty bunch.

  21. It was a good post--THANKS for the needed grin at the end of a day when I need one!

By the way, I had a new patient today that has just moved to Virginia and for the past 8 years he has been living in all places, Sheffield!! He couldn't believe that I'd heard of it--Of course I told him about you and I really enjoyed hearing about Sheffield. The appointment time passed much too quickly, and because we talked too much, I ended up about 30 minutes behind, and I was okay with that! I gave him the link to your blog, so we'll see if he shows up here. :-)

How great that at her age she was prepared to give it a shot. I hope she ended up getting one and had some fun.
