  1. I have become addicted to the Great British Bake Off - though I don't much like the American equivalent. Though I did snort at the gentleman who told Paul that he 'should' be star baker - the implication was that Paul had got it wrong in previous weeks and should correct his error. Surprise, surprise - he missed out again.

  2. I called out for joy when I read it was back on next week. I dislike cooking and yet love this show. I even watch the repeats...what happened to me.

  4. How easily we can become addicted to a TV show. I crave anything British as they seem to be so much better than the 100s of shows on here. Have you ever heard of Honey Boo Boo? Lordy, Lordy, it is the pits and has set a new low standard.

  5. I love this show , in fact almost all the UK shows when they finally reach Australia, such a relief from all the American nonsense we get
repeated. I am sure they must make good stuff too but we never get to see it.
A bit cheeky to use your blog for this Mr G, but has anyone any news of Hippo?? Are things OK with him and his family.

    1. He's having internet problems and is incredibly busy
I " spoke" to him a week or so ago.......his leg was bothering him a little too

  6. Are Scotch eggs baked? I have a local butcher who makes them, along with Cornish pasties and sausage rolls. He's also my go-to guy for homemade black pudding.

He's next door to my favorite pastry shop, which is owned by a guy I've known since high school.

I really need to stay away from that particular stretch of shops.

  7. I do wish they'd do more savoury stuff; Scotch eggs would be a good start. For a non-sugar-eater all those cakes make me ill.

  8. That will be me putting on another stone then, I love this show far too much.

  9. I love it too. Do you watch it for the food or the gorgeous Holywood?
As for Scotch eggs - isn't it all cakey things? You could start a trend but trying a few sweet Scotch eggs one wet afternoon - boiled egg surrounded by Victoria Sponge mixture, boiled egg surrounded by meringue, boiled egg surrounded by crisp almondy maid of honour mixture - mm - that last one sounds so good might try it myself.

  10. Thank goodness for the bake off. Summer TV has been so dire. They seem to think that everyone goes galavanting off to warmer climes!

  11. They might do a wedding cake decorated - not with royal icing but with row upon row of mini scotch eggs. Why don't you apply for a place on the show next year? I bet you look fetching in a floral pinny!

  12. Hooray !!!
The line up looks like the typical mix of characters. I look forward to it so much - that and Strictly and the blackberries in the hedgerows, all give the last weeks of summer a welcome boost.

  13. How about a International Going Gently Contest? We all have to bake something, make a picture of it, send it to you, and you'll pick the winner. Let's do it!

  14. Brilliant news ..... and there is also to be a 'side show' thingy the day after the show with Jo Brand discussing the Bake Off with various guests and I guess the ejected loser from the night before. Brilliant, two for the price of one :-)
