They few there were had been placed in obscure, hidden places - a churchyard in a valley, a park in the middle of an estate for instance. Dammit, the is North London - we have decent sized hills such as Alexandra Palace, Trent Park, Hampstead Heath. There were no beacons in Enfield or Haringey boroughs, though Broxbourne on the other side of the M25 seemed hellbent on setting itself ablaze, albeit in discreet corners.Blue Shed Thinkinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02988028935854371365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20303812.post-22043714414765950262012-06-05T19:12:27.556+00:002012-06-05T19:12:27.556+00:00Looks like a real Lord of the Rings moment...!Looks like a real Lord of the Rings moment...!Stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02133900289384226725noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20303812.post-87349555250900706042012-06-05T18:40:33.587+00:002012-06-05T18:40:33.587+00:00Enjoyed your photographs John. We had a beacon (...Enjoyed your photographs John. We had a beacon (i.e.bonfire) in our village -I am afraid we watched it from our bedroom window. There was an official one on Penhill in Wensleydale.<br />Re the photograph - we didn't go and join in as we are not officially in the village, but I understand it was a great success. They took the photo on the village green and the photographer was in the attic window of the hall. I don't see why you shouldn't just assemble the villagers for a photo regardless of the date. The Weaver of Grasshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13947971556343746883noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20303812.post-77661654065196809742012-06-05T18:22:21.913+00:002012-06-05T18:22:21.913+00:00All the skips around here have 'NO FIRES'...All the skips around here have 'NO FIRES' stencilled on the sides.
