Roger had a haircut today.
Mary is going bald so needs no trim as yet .
I’ve got group supervision this evening, where all of the sessional counsellors at the charity I work for get together. This meeting of minds is a rarity, and I’m beginning to realise that counselling can be a rather solitary vocation .
My sister gave the front garden a good seeing too and the cottage feels ready for its first proper Christmas tree in years.
If I have time I may buy one on the way home

I used to love a real tree, thinking I was creating happy memories of choosing and decorating it with my children. Then, a few years ago, my, now grown-up, daughter told me she hated getting the tree as the needles stuck in her hands! Dreams shattered! A heads up, John. They drink a lot of water. We had a stand for ours, that you filled with water and it took at least a litre every day. It did stop a lot of the needle drop, but I was still vacuuming pine needles in July! xx
ReplyDeleteHint taken x
DeleteEnjoy your evening and the meeting of minds. 😊
ReplyDeleteA proper Christmas tree may prove immensely interesting and entertaining to Bun, Weaver, and Roger. I suspect Mary will take it all in stride as the grand dame is wont to do.
Stay safe & well, John dear.
Thank you dearHeart x
DeleteOur Basset, Daisy, regarded our live Christmas tree as her own sweet haven, so we put our unbreakable ornaments on the bottom of the tree! Neither of the cats ever climbed the tree, but am not sure of Bun or Weaver's behavior.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your meeting tonight and hope you find just the right tree for the cottage!
Hugs!
I’m thinking smaller may be better
DeleteEveryone needs a Roger and a Mary. I have a Finn who is a six month old English Springer spaniel and needs a hair cut. Unfortunately he does not have his brave heart yet and loud noises frighten him. Clippers, hair dryer etc.
ReplyDeleteYou are right , Roger, is a real delight
DeleteI have a seven foot tree. Got it many years ago for loyalty points from a supermarket. 35000 points for the tree, same amount of points as a PS 1. My sons wanted that game system so badly. I held firm and got the tree. Youngest had an asthma attack the year before and the doctors felt the tree was a big factor.
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, tree still comes out every December and both our now adult sons admit they really like the tree.
The oldest got divorced in 20 and hasn't bothered with a tree since. He comes "home" for the dinner and the tree. This year he's working overseas and his brother is stationed 1200km away and we don't know if he's got leave.
It takes time. Enjoy the tree.
7 feet….bigger than my living room
DeleteMy dog will only get a bath and combout on Saturday as i want her hair to get a bit longer for the cold weather that is coming. She refuses to wear a coat. Good luck with a tree and two cats! Gigi
ReplyDeleteI’m now worried
DeleteRoger looks so sweet in his new haircut. We didn't get our dogs trimmed until early spring so they could stay warm in cold weather.
ReplyDeleteWeaver does look mightily miffed!
Hugs!
She sat there for two hours glaring at the three of us
DeleteGlaring at you for two hours? Really? On the photo she's not even looking in your direction!
DeleteArsehole
DeleteIndeed you are if you think readers are so gullible.t
DeleteGroup supervision will be good. I love that chance to get my teeth into something important and interesting.
ReplyDeleteA tree will be lovely!
Next week I will get one
DeleteI wonder what Weaver will think of a tree in the house?
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking that...cats don't like change....and let you know about it...
DeleteShe’s already planning its demise
DeleteCounseling is a solo job in many ways, including the confidential nature of the sessions. So you're wise to build in good self care. And colleagues!
ReplyDeleteI love the cat's total boycott of her family! Or boycatt.
She truly hates me
DeleteEnjoy your meeting with colleagues. Having connections within your profession seems invaluable.
ReplyDeleteGet the tree! I love a nice full live tree. The pine scent is lovely. When I had a cat, she climbed the tree and toppled it. Lots of broken ornaments resulted. Since that incident, I use fishing line to secure the tree. The line goes from the top of the tree to a wood beam in the ceiling.
My first proper tree since Chris left, another milestone
DeleteAll is well in a small cottage in Trelawnd, and that is a lovely thing indeed.
ReplyDeleteAll is indeed ok x
DeleteTrees are nice, though I'm certain my dog would eat one if I put it up... he has this thing for branches.
ReplyDeleteHummm I will have to test Roger
DeleteRoger looks as if he's saying "What just happened to me?"
ReplyDeleteThat’s his normal expression
DeleteI suggested to my wife that I buy a decent tree this year, and she said NO. So, we'll be having our cheap, rubbishy, imitation tree again. I hate it. I shall pretend not to have found it until Dec 24th.
ReplyDeleteOh cro, go out and buy one
DeleteElsie had a hair cut last week. She hates it. She came back home and immediately went into the garden and rolled in the grass.
ReplyDeleteI suspect he literally feels lighter
DeleteRoger looks ravishing. Your sister sure is good to you.
ReplyDeleteI am a customer
DeleteLovely Roger looks like his coat is made from velveteen :)
ReplyDeleteI feels similar x
DeleteRoger looks so smart. I wonder if dogs feel better after a visit to the hairdresser.
ReplyDeleteShe cleans ears and cuts nails so yes me thinks
DeleteYes, less than 4 weeks until Christmas so I had better get busy with it! We will have a big snowstorm this weekend to get us in the Christmas spirit! ;)
ReplyDeleteI’m getting myself into the spirit
DeleteI dunno, but it kinda looks to me that Roger is not entirely pleased with his new "do." As for Weaver, business as usual! :)
ReplyDeleteHe’s colder for sure
DeleteRoger looks spiffy.
ReplyDeleteHe can see
Deleteand why am I thinking your dogs are going to love cocking a leg on that real Christmas tree lol! Ive just noticed your pic on the side bar of pissed off Albert, I have Mollie, who does a very good impersonation of him!
ReplyDeleteAlbert was a happy arse compared to weaver
DeleteHe’s a sweet old mutt , I’ve always adored Roger
ReplyDeleteKeith Xx
I suspect Weaver will be up that tree in a shot. Having two 1yr old kitties im not having a tree this year. too much stress.
ReplyDeleteI buy a living Christmas tree every year, and they've been smaller and smaller as the years go by. I picked up a cute little spruce yesterday, can't be more than 18-24 inches high.
ReplyDeleteIt's my Solstice tree!
I so miss having a 'live' tree. Back in Michigan they were available in all sorts of shapes and styles. It made the house smell so wonderful. When done I would chop it into wood for the fireplace we had. Lovely memories.
ReplyDeleteI'd love a real tree. Maybe if my house becomes less chaotic I'll indulge.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a haircut! He must feel lighter! The feline Weaver is so funny (and unlike her namesake) in her perpetual crankiness.
