Roger had a haircut today.
Mary is going bald so needs no trim as yet .
I’ve got group supervision this evening, where all of the sessional counsellors at the charity I work for get together. This meeting of minds is a rarity, and I’m beginning to realise that counselling can be a rather solitary vocation .
My sister gave the front garden a good seeing too and the cottage feels ready for its first proper Christmas tree in years.
If I have time I may buy one on the way home
I used to love a real tree, thinking I was creating happy memories of choosing and decorating it with my children. Then, a few years ago, my, now grown-up, daughter told me she hated getting the tree as the needles stuck in her hands! Dreams shattered! A heads up, John. They drink a lot of water. We had a stand for ours, that you filled with water and it took at least a litre every day. It did stop a lot of the needle drop, but I was still vacuuming pine needles in July! xx

DeleteOur Basset, Daisy, regarded our live Christmas tree as her own sweet haven, so we put our unbreakable ornaments on the bottom of the tree! Neither of the cats ever climbed the tree, but am not sure of Bun or Weaver's behavior.

DeleteEveryone needs a Roger and a Mary. I have a Finn who is a six month old English Springer spaniel and needs a hair cut. Unfortunately he does not have his brave heart yet and loud noises frighten him. Clippers, hair dryer etc.

DeleteI have a seven foot tree. Got it many years ago for loyalty points from a supermarket. 35000 points for the tree, same amount of points as a PS 1. My sons wanted that game system so badly. I held firm and got the tree. Youngest had an asthma attack the year before and the doctors felt the tree was a big factor.
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, tree still comes out every December and both our now adult sons admit they really like the tree.
The oldest got divorced in 20 and hasn't bothered with a tree since. He comes "home" for the dinner and the tree. This year he's working overseas and his brother is stationed 1200km away and we don't know if he's got leave.
It takes time. Enjoy the tree.

DeleteMy dog will only get a bath and combout on Saturday as i want her hair to get a bit longer for the cold weather that is coming. She refuses to wear a coat. Good luck with a tree and two cats! Gigi

ReplyDeleteGet the tree! I love a nice full live tree. The pine scent is lovely. When I had a cat, she climbed the tree and toppled it. Lots of broken ornaments resulted. Since that incident, I use fishing line to secure the tree. The line goes from the top of the tree to a wood beam in the ceiling.

ReplyDeleteI buy a living Christmas tree every year, and they've been smaller and smaller as the years go by. I picked up a cute little spruce yesterday, can't be more than 18-24 inches high.

I so miss having a 'live' tree. Back in Michigan they were available in all sorts of shapes and styles. It made the house smell so wonderful. When done I would chop it into wood for the fireplace we had. Lovely memories.
