The lecture was less about understanding violence and more about understanding and diagnosing mental illness which I thought it would be.
It was interesting nevertheless.
I’m back in work tomorrow and I’m a little ambivalent about it.
I’ve so enjoyed my holiday and know the patient I am close to is still with us. In some ways I was hoping he had passed away before I got back on the floor.
It will be fine, but I still has that feeling, I did have as a child the day I started secondary school after the summer holidays.
This morning, as I was messaging my friend in Korea I was cooking udon noodles with chicken for my lunch tomorrow. To give the meal a Korean twist, I use gochujang paste with soy, garlic and honey.
I bought the gochijang in Waitrose and a jar lasts ages
I’ve only just realised that Mr Poznań caught me licking my gravy covered fingers this morning after I had put Mary’s dinner bowl onto the front lawn.
He had distracted me with talk about the buddliea
This isn’t such a big deal except I’m sure he thought that the bowl was full to the brim of dog food.
I must have to admit now , that it wasn’t even though It looked as though it was….a few times a week I treat Mary to some tinned stewing steak. In it I disguise a big dollop of cod liver oil which seems to be helping her coat condition.
But Mr Poznań wasnt privy to this information and now must think, I’m an animal
He was right about the buddliea though. My three bush/trees have lost their blooms and now look dull and brown and rather sad. The clouds of butterflies that enveloped them only a week ago have all but gone
“Prepare yourself for autumn” Mr Poznań lamented
Summer holidays have finished I thought
hahaha...you animal you!
ReplyDeleteIt’s been said before
DeleteYour udon noodles and chicken look delicious and I'll have to see if that gochugang paste is available in the US.
ReplyDeleteHow funny that Mr. Poznzan caught you licking what seemed to be dog food off of your fingers! Will you explain the gravy or leave him wondering about you?
Big hugs as you face returning to work tomorrow. Sigh ...
I am sure it will be , if I can get hold of it
DeleteI used to hate that feeling of back to school/work. I always felt like I'd made a mistake and should have gone back earlier. I know there are some people who DO taste their dog's food, so you wouldn't be alone! Will you set Mr P straight or leave him guessing? xx
ReplyDeleteI don’t think he will lose sleep about it x
DeleteHope all goes well at work. Now you can start planning for your next holiday so you have something to look forward to! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, my next holiday needs booking I have a week I think
DeleteYes, today is the last day of summer. Tomorrow is the Autumn Equinox.
ReplyDeleteMrposhań was right
DeleteOur buddleia look the same. Funny about the dog food! Maybe you can slip Mr. Poznan that bit of information about Mary's dinner next time you see him so he doesn't get the wrong idea. (Then again, who cares?)
ReplyDeleteExactly , it makes for a slightly amusing story
DeleteI get the Sunday evening before school feeling often about all sorts of things-I get butterflies in my tummy-It was such a beautiful Autumnal walk with the mdogs-my favourite season-as I approached the car I saw a woman dressed in a long dress and thought that looks nice and then I saw it was see through and her drawers were visible-she had a big arse and then I noticed her furry brown deer ears-there was a man getting his camera and large lens around his person and they headed into the treesm-l changed my mind and thought oh dear-unsavoury and almost phoned the ranger x
ReplyDeleteI had a long walk this afternoon and the leaves were already falling , I miss Williamin autumn, he used to love kicking leaves into their air
Deletethey break our hearts xx
DeleteButterflies are still visiting my withered deck garden, so I left the plants, ugly as they are.
ReplyDeleteI hate that end of summer feeling, I secretly cry every year as the kids go back to school.
lizzy x
Awww
DeleteVery funny how certain mannerisms just happen. I sometimes taste what I am cooking and am also not aware. Not aware until someone else questions or gives me a look of horror. Your Korean meal looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteWe used to to the old sip the urine trick at work decades ago
DeleteYou show an inexperienced student a urine sample then place a finger in it.
You then put ( another finger) quickly into your mouth
Lol
You should prune the buddleia lightly and also make your own kimchi x
ReplyDeleteif you do John don't forget to massage your kimchi as Jamie suggests x
DeleteI hate fermented veg x
DeleteAhhh... But do you think Mr. Poznan was surprised?
ReplyDeleteNo one would be surprised. I did have stains on my T-shirt front too
DeleteI was sad reading about Mary and her food because it reminded me of Tess. I love tinned tuna and always once a week I make myself a tuna sandwich with pepper and mayo for my tea. The minute I opened the tin she was sitting at my feet - she adored it and always shared the tin with me.
ReplyDeleteThey love strong smelling fish don’t they?
DeleteMary adores fish skin
I've recently discovered gochujang paste after being a bit afraid of it we now use it in Beef bulgogi with kimchi and white rice. Delish. Sorry your holiday is over I know that feeling you are talking about a sort of sink hole in your stomach and mild anxiety ... urgh not nice. Hugs for tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland
Xx
DeleteHow funny! After all, your animals are part of the family so sharing food is natural. Your cooking skills are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI leave giving my buddleias a haircut until spring, the birds love their seeds and they give a bit of height to my garding border.
ReplyDeleteI love the autumn. My sister and I usually rent and old house in the mountains and travel the blueridge parkway most years covid has stopped that trip for us.
ReplyDeleteWe live in Florida .. autumn is just a continuation of summer with a pumpkin thrown in.
