Dorothy chased Albert and knocked him over in an over exuberant moment of giddiness after I got home and so, tiredly I told her off quite vociferously, a wooden spoon waved angrily in hand.
She stormed off in a fit of pique, flinging herself dramatically onto the kitchen floor and without me knowing she has just chewed the heel straps from the back of one of my crocs
hahaha...i love this video! dorothy bit you right in your croc.
ReplyDeleteOh no! What a video. :) Was Dorothy ashamed? Will your shoes, clothes, towels, etc all be kept in high places forevermore?
ReplyDeleteOur first dog was vindictive the first time we left her with MIL coming to feed and walk her. We came home to find one of DH's paperback books chewed to tatters and one of my pairs of white nurse hose chewed up. Nothing else was damaged.
Hugs!
She was angry
DeleteDear Dorothy will get her own back every time. I'm sure you'll forgive each other, in time. xx
ReplyDeleteI’ve asked her to join me on the sofa but she’s still sulking
DeleteAw Dorothy is just too exuberant I trust Albert is OK. Crocs are a source of great humor a motorcycle WhatsApp group I belong to. There are pink ones for ladies, yellow ones decorated like a birthday cake and even crocs recreated as Nikes. In Durban on our east coast, if you wear socks with your crocs, you know it's cold. xx Jo
ReplyDeleteI go without socks , how mad is that ?
DeleteI’m a mad bitch
John, I got a pair lined with thick fleece! Perfect in the winter time. :)
DeleteI like my lavender Crocs! Quick on for walk in the wet grass to retreive the morning paper. Boots should be so colorful!!
ReplyDeleteI have a green pair and a blue pair
DeleteDorothy did not like being scolded and she took revenge when you were not looking. Clever as she put thought in to it. Her act toward Albert definitely required correction. What next dear Dorothy?
ReplyDeleteShe’s a gay man in a dogs body
DeleteI have £2000 worth of handmade shoes which I love but can't wear because my feet are so fucked with arthritis now, that I have been seriously considering buying a pair of crocs to wear on a daily basis. Thank God I saw that clip.
ReplyDeleteYou can buy a pair in Aldi fir 4.99 £ my husband divorced me for wearing crocs
DeleteWhat a poor excuse for a divorce. It's very telling about him - NOT you.
DeleteHugs!
The reported reason(s) do change Barbara. The previous reason I recall was when John said his husband divorced him "for being old". Perhaps dear John does not even know the real reason or reasons. perhaps even his ex-husband does not really know himself, with clarity. Life is complicated. And I offer my comment on my speculation about the issue simply because John does so quite frequently himself, so I presume it is an issue deemed appropriate for comment. Otherwise I would have kept silent.
DeleteDorothy saw the video and was trying to help your love life.
ReplyDeleteI do need some help with it
DeleteRevenge is a dish best served with Crocs heel straps, apparently.
ReplyDeleteAnd she peed on the kitchen floor
DeleteThat'll teach you! HA!
ReplyDeleteYour bird would do the same x
DeleteYou got that right!!
DeleteThat made me laugh, Dorothy’s equivalent of flipping you the bird.
ReplyDeleteShe’s a gay man in a bulldog body
DeleteBitch!x
ReplyDeleteHope Albert is OK.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad life the man in the clip must have, to give any importance to wearing crocs (or not). Comfortable, functional, cheap - what's not to like?
I don't even know what crocs are once they are not in tropical rivers.
ReplyDeleteMe also.
DeleteNow you have a spare for your new pair!
ReplyDeleteIf it is any consolation, our beagle puppy just chewed the strap off of my favorite (purple) crocs.
ReplyDeleteDorothy probably thinks that she's taught you a good lesson. She is also a bit frustrated that it's taking so long to get you properly trained.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but this post was hysterical. ( I am a croc lover)
ReplyDelete3 years ago I dashed to hospital with appendicitis-quickly I wore my crocs-On the ward a lovely refined lady patient looked at me quite concerned and said" please don't say you wear those all the time"x
ReplyDeleteLove my crocs!
ReplyDeleteI own a pair
ReplyDeleteI have been wearing Crocs for about the past 16 years ... I can't wear my regular shoes anymore! My first ones were cheap and from Walmart and the ones I wear now are from Crocs.com and got them on sale! They are dark blue!
ReplyDeleteThat Dotty is really getting kinda feisty!
It could have been worse. Long ago my dad chastised our boston terrier and she went in and went to the bathroom on his pillow. Dogs....you gotta love them.
ReplyDeleteMy first ever dog, Hamlet, was sent to the Surrey countryside because he ate their shoes in London. At their huge Surrey home, he continued to eat their shoes, so was given to me. He never ate any of my shoes.
ReplyDeleteI have a bright green pair (think John Deere green) and a navy blue and a black. I had some khaki colored ones years back but I have no idea where they are. How weird is that? How do we lose crocs? And could there be a croc thief? ha.
ReplyDeleteDogs really know how to get their own back!
ReplyDeleteI find this sad. You chastised your dog for being happy at your return and showing exuberance, accidently knocking Albert over.
ReplyDeleteThen you complain that she chewed something - don't you know that when adult dogs chew it's their form of comfort eating? She is devoted to you and you reward her happiness at seeing you by being angry with her.
You lost your temper then blame your dog.
nony-You are ridiculous-always trying to troublemake-dogs like children should be corrected occasionally I'm quite sure
DeleteWhy do you always answer readers comments Flis, it's John's blog not yours.
DeleteI agree with Anonymous, that it was unkind to reprimand Dorothy for showing happiness even if it was over exuberant.
I believe that dogs should always be treated with kindness and trained with rewards. Chastising a dog isn't kind or necessary, they do their utmost to please you.
I'm sure in hindsight John will regret losing his temper especially as Dorothy is a special needs rescue dog.
My comment doesn't need a reply from you Flis, John will reply if he chooses to.
I disagree-I didn't like the tone of it-I abhorre bullies-I will speak out-John can remove me whenever he chooses
DeleteI am not sure one can "bully" John by simply leaving a comment on his blog that he is free to delete if he wishes. I happen to agree that Dorothy may be left very puzzled and perhaps even somewhat further damaged by her beloved John losing his temper and waving a stick at he (my goodness) when all she probably thinks she was doing was expressing her joy at seeing him. If John considers my mild comment of opinion as bullying he can of course delete it.
DeleteThe original comment to me had undertones of a troll person-my dogs are my life but I do tell them"No"or"time out"when they are naughty
DeletePs ps ps-and don't forget I expect John was very worried for Albert who has been so poorly recently
Delete"Naughty" as defined by you, is probably "just being a dog" as defined by them. Is a dog truly capable of being "naughty"? And I do so regret that the word "Troll" is increasingly just used to describe anyone who dares to disagree with something online. It is increasingly used as a childish and simplistic way of dismissing any contrary opinion. There is a difference between disagreeing and obvious "Trolling".
DeleteBut the original comment was for John not you Flis. Whether or not you read into it the undertones of a troll it was not addressed to you. I personally read the original comment from Anonymous not as being a troll but as being one person's view of John's chastisement of his dog.
DeleteLike Andrew above I also happen to agree with the view of Anonymous. If I had lost my temper with my dog so that she retreated into the kitchen and weed on the floor (John mentions this additional fact in a reply to a comment) then I would be deeply ashamed of myself. To think of my dog weeing in fear would be very upsetting and I would be full of remorse.
Please leave John to answer his readers, it's not your place to call a reader ridiculous, a bully, a troublemaker or a troll on his blog when they are clearly none of those things, it was merely a reader expressing their view and it is your replies that have the trait of a troublemaker.
Mine are naughty and they definitely know when they are because they have a cheeky expression-I have followed the advice of private and dogs home behaviourists-I am also trained by the professionals-I used the word troll because I think they are being Deliberately confrontational -some dogs do rip and chew things regularly and not only for comfort
DeleteBut John is busy and possibly tending to the dying and I think it very cruel for him to possibly sit for a few moments and glance at his own blog and see nasty comments about him and no one stick up for him
DeleteYou fail to see my point. Humans get to decide what is "naughty" do they? Dogs would probably say leaving them locked up for hours every day as many humans do to them is "naughty" or worse than naughty, by the humans; not to mention breeding them over generations to promote physical characteristics that leave them with chronic breathing problems, prone to diseases, prone to joint problems, cutting their tails off as youngsters, etc etc, all just to make them cute for humans to look at. Humans are far beyond "naughty" in so many ways.
DeleteI agree with you here wholeheartedly Andrew-mine play fight a bit too seriously at times and I am referee-they have a huge amount of toys but steal my clothes and shred them-rip upholstery and chew tables even though I am continually tending to their needs and 2 hours walking and additional games in the garden throughout the day
DeleteI think that whenever someone replies using Anonymous as their name, that automatically starts off on the wrong foot (or croc) and is asking to be called a troll even if their intention was not nefarious. While I can see Anonymous' point, this post just was funny to me picturing the dog dramatically throwing a tantrum and getting back at John. Do any of us really know what a dog is thinking? Probably not, but that was my interpretation. John treats his pets and his humans well so I hate seeing anyone acting like he is uncaring.
DeleteWhat I find concerning here is that a reader has returned SEVEN times to comment again and again, and this is only on one comment. As they have also both posted replies to the post and also commented on other reader's replies it does make me wonder how many times this person visits this blog in one day. I see no evidence of trolling here but do see stalking which in my mind is more worrying.
DeleteRegarding a reader wishing to comment under "Anonymous" I see nothing wrong in that if the comment is harmless. Remaining anonymous certainly doesn't mean someone is a troll. Perhaps the frequent commenter should look up the definition of a troll before accusing someone else.
When I mentioned Anonymous starts off on a wrong foot even if the comment is not meant to be mean spirited, what I meant to convey is that it looks like they want to criticize with no repercussions of anyone knowing it was them and it is kind of cowardly because they are criticizing someone while coming away unscathed. Of course we can all make up pseudonyms so it really doesn't matter anyway.
DeleteI think Flis was invested in their defense of John, which is nice. I don't think assuming Flis is a stalker is fair to say.
Anyone would think this is Flis' blog ..
DeleteSome people comment on blogs anonymously simply because they don't see the point in inventing a meaningless name, which can be changed on a whim in any case. In my opinion all social media accounts should be verified and traceable, at least by the site operator (blogger, facebook, twitter, etc.) as it would surely drastically reduce the abuse; but if anonymous comments are allowed by a blogger, as they are by John, you can hardly criticise someone from commenting anonymously. The "allow anonymous comments" facility is easily switched off (although without the checks I suggest above there is still nothing to stop someone opening an account and registering their name as.... "Anonymous"!
DeleteLinda-I Hope I am not a stalker but do sit quite a lot to recover after my busy dog routine-I have a curious mind and perhaps a bit nosey and have been stalked and harassed and so am interested in other peoples negative behaviour to others who I feel are being wronged especially when the negativity is towards someone who does not deserve it-unforunately at times I had no one to help me as I either didn't share it or no one bothered-so I do-I reseached it myself-Linda Thankyou xx
DeleteFlis why don't you have blog of your own? You can't say you don't have time as you obviously spend a lot of time on other people's blogs. Also as you've just said you sit down a lot - the perfect time to write your own blog! Or do you prefer to continue to stalk others, hiding behind a name.
Delete(I'm sure you'll be back here to read this!)
Yes I thought I'd check back here because I was certain you would be back to stalk me-Please Leave me Alone-This is John's post about Crocs for goodness sake and a dog being cheeky
DeleteThere are more than one Anonymous comments here, this is my 2nd, I lay claim to the first one above, the others are not mine.
DeleteHowever I comment now as in your latest comment you say a dog being "cheeky" and I strongly disagree with that. The dog was exuberant at seeing her owner return and she was reprimanded and possibly distressed she then retreated into the kitchen, chewed and weed. You class that as being "cheeky"? Dogs exhibit various forms of behaviour but being "cheeky" is not one of them, they're not human.
To be honest I feel somewhat sorry for you, that your life seems to revolve around returning here so often. A blog in a virtual world. Why you return so often I don't know, you acknowledge it is indeed John's blog yet take over with your so frequent comments. But then there is a previous reader's comment about being a stalker. I wish you well in obtaining a more fulfilling life with interesting things to do that will be a distraction. You ask to be left alone - I suggest that you refrain from making multiple comments then there would be no reason for any readers to direct their comments to you. I'm sure you will return and read this comment however a reply is not needed as two comments are sufficient for me. Best wishes for a better life.
Thankyou-you too-must dash x
DeleteI've been on holiday with no internet (highly recommended!!) and now catching up with posts and comments and finding the comments more entertaining than the posts!! I have to say though that flis you've made 13 comments on this one post and you're making a fool of yourself.
DeleteI don't mind that as I feel very strongly that John is being wronged and I shall speak up-He works in a Hospice for goodness sake-John may remove anything or whoever if he chooses but until then I shall speak out
DeleteUnbelievable that you would return again!! Lots of people work in hospitals and hospices but that doesn't make them weak and unable to speak up for themselves. You're not only making a fool of yourself but John too by insinuating that he can't stand up for himself.
DeleteYou remind me of my mother in law, she thought she should always have the last word even when she knew she was in the wrong except I suspect you're not an adult but a child, a teenager perhaps. You called Anonymous ridiculous, I suggest you look at your own behaviour before calling others and before everyone sees just how ridiculous you are becoming yourself. 15 comments on one post? Is that normal behaviour? I don't think so. I'm relieved I know I can now leave this post without returning to leave another comment, an addiction to returning again and again must be very wearying and time consuming.
15 times!!!
Goodnight sleep tight don't let the bed bugs bite
DeleteAt least it's never boring in your house!
ReplyDeletePink crocs by the front door and yellow crocs at the back here.
I have had two disasters in Crocs.I had worn my white pair so much that they had gone smooth on the sole.Coming down the stairs they slipped under me and my arse went down on my foot.Result..a broken foot and a cast on for 8 weeks.Next my green ones.Very old and comfy..but whilst reading in the garden a wasp flew in to the holes on them and stung my big toe.Im not very lucky with Crocs!xx
ReplyDeleteDebi-I think you can buy padded pants to have a Kardashian posterior which may help xx
DeleteHi Flis!.To be honest, the broken foot accident happened about 8 years ago, when I was about 2 stone lighter. These days there is plenty of home grown padding, lol,Hope you and your lovely dogs are well,xx
DeleteWhat's wrong with crocs? they are light and so comfortable. I love mine.
ReplyDeleteBriony

Dorothy has her standards! (Even if you don’t.)
ReplyDeleteLOL!
ReplyDeleteHell hath no fury as they say :)
When you wear "Crocs" you are making a fashion statement and that statement is "I don't give a toss about fashion".
ReplyDeleteMy dog chewed my favourite red umbrella.
ReplyDeleteI did have a smile at this post. I always enjoy reading about the drama and daily life of your four legged friends.
I am sorry about the croc though.

ReplyDeleteI just bought a pair of crocs for my husband, his feet are so painful and they seem to help. One of my dogs chewed through one of my sandals so now I need to buy new sandals. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteRevenge!
ReplyDeleteShake a spoon at me, will you?? Vengeance is mine, sayeth Dorothy.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope she didn't swallow any. Cleaning up the aftermath would be vengeance times two.
I'm sorry.
ReplyDeleteNow that’s entertainment!
