Bloody Hell!

Mave was right in his comment of yesterday
“ Rough” was exactly how I looked.
I looked rough because I was ill.
Two long days on shifts on the hottest days of the year prior to almost two days walking around London had left me dehydrated.
In the bustle of work and pleasure I had forgotten to drink and by Borough Market , I felt my lifelong nemesis, a rip roaring urine infection, set in.
By the time I got back to my hotel to change for Nu’s get together I was passing blood and was shaky.
I am susceptible  to urine infections , for reasons I don’t need to go into here and I was angry at myself for the fuck up but I knew all I could do was to hole up in my hotel room and drink gallons of water .
So that’s what I’ve done, with around three hours sleep.
An irritating end to a lovely couple of days and I’m feeling sorry for myself
It always seems that I’ve pulled myself up by my bra straps only to come  crashing down in some sort of physical or mental jacuzzi ….
I missed Nu’s party and today I will miss a mutually flirty soho lunch and cinema at the Curzon  with my friend Alex which was a let down but the only thing I need now is to rehydrate, and take some prophylactic antibiotics I have at home
….And rest
Hey fucking ho

  10. What a shame John! In the past I have had a couple of urine infections myself and they brought me down low - as if my entire body was somehow infected. A swift course of antibiotics soon had me right again.

Glad you are on the mend.
Too easy to forget to drink though, especially with a change in routine. X

  12. Oh, bloody hell! I find waterfall D mannose powder dissolved in water helps flush out the infection. Studies have shown similar effectiveness to antibiotics in preventing repeat infections. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32497610/

  17. I got a bad case cycling the wine regions of the Loire. I blamed it on the saddle, never having ridden a bike for nigh on 300 years. Oh the injustice, and the fact the Leonardo Da Vinci homestead was just a blur of pain and piss. I feel for you John.

  41. Hello John...here's the advice of an "old" nurse who worked night 12hr. shifts for 20+ years. I was also very prone to bladder infections...never had time, or thought, to drink enough water during shifts. Once home, I drank quite a bit of cranberry juice to help but honestly, the best help came from my primary doc. He proscribed a daily dose of Macrodantin--- (don't know if they even make that anymore) But that was my life saver! I took 1 Macrodantin a day for about 5 years while I worked. When I retired in 2008, I never had any further trouble with infections, altho I still do drink a small glass of cranberry juice daily. You might want to consider this type of prophylactic treatment. One last note: during the active infection I took an OTC med called pyridium...now days it has various names but it's OTC and wow, it really relieves the pain when you pee. Take care and feel better soon.
