Marilyn

Marilyn thank you for your Birthday card and the  20$
I was thrilled with both, but please don't keep spoiling me with such lovelies!
I will put the money towards a special car  harness for Mary. She now can sit safely in the front seat like my  old  Meg used to do.
She is my new co pilot.
My birthday is on June 1st and I will be 57 years old
57!!!!
I am working nights , so will be doing nothing but sleep on the day itself
I had a conversation about my birthday with my choir friend Peter tonight

It was a game he liked to play, I thought
" How many people have you known for all of the years you have been alive?" He asked me
I thought hard and finally answered
" My two sisters and my Aunt !"
He was intrigued..... " So many" he said wistfully

I enjoyed choir tonight, I fucked up with several intros into the South African Anthem   and me a Peter giggled like schoolboys over it

  2. Yeah. Fifty-seven ain't old. It's older than forty-seven but it still isn't old.
What an interesting question! I guess, come to think of it, that there is absolutely no one left that has known me ever since I've been alive. I have one cousin who's older than I am but she didn't exactly know me when we were babies. How odd to think of that.

  10. You plow the path a bit ahead of me, as I'm turning 53 this year in July. I'm the oldest of my generation, but I still have my mom, a crazy old long lived grandmother and an aunt who doesn't remember me any more...

  11. 1 June is my Mum['s Birthday. We will visit her at the cemetery and have a nice visit.
57 sounds good I am 72 and so everyone is younger than me.
    It will only get better.

    1. I’m the same age. I was adopted so I’ve not known anyone from birth onward.

  12. Ahh, you are still young! I'll be 67 this summer.(dang) I finally figured out what old is - ten years older than whatever you are at the moment. Happy almost birthday to you - you young thing you!

  13. What a thoughtful thing for Marilyn to do!

I agree with Bonnie - old is ten years past whatever age you currently are :) When you are 67 you'll realize how young 57 is.

  14. That birthday question took me by surprise. My answer is, one cousin. No, two cousins. No matter, the old ones thin fast.

I had recently turned 11 years old when you were born so you're not nearly so old yet - and it beats the alternative!

Am glad you raised your voice in song tonight. :)

    Hugs!

  17. Wow, you made me think and I realized that although I'm only 65, there is no one left older in my family.

  18. Still got my mum, one aunt and a handful of cousins who are older. Then there's my BFF. We really have known each other since the day I was born (she's 4 months older. Ha!)

  20. If your postman is reading this he will be thinking of retiring..or being off sick very rapidly! You will probably get even more birthday cards than you did postcards !! (Glad to hear that Mary will be safely held on your front seat....my 2 go in a crate in the back! )

  23. Age is but a number in time.
Life is just a movement in the stars.
Follow the best life that you can.
    Be kind to all.

I have an adopted brother and an adopted sister.
The only people that I've known for a life time. Which is good, as I know no different.

  25. I have four people that have known me all my life, my Mum, two aunts and one uncle. As the oldest of the cousins there is no one of my generation that I can add.

It's a question that makes you stop and think isn't it.

  26. How many people... interesting question. I have a very long list because I come from a large extended family and although only two aunts of 16 aunts and uncles are still living, I’ve got a slew of older cousins. But perhaps only one meaningful among them all.

  27. What an interesting question! I'm going to have to think about that one. My mom is still with us, so she's the obvious example.
