Flu Jab Blues

Sunday afternoon after night shift.
The Prof is cooking pork and is sighing a great deal about small shit.
I've been lying on the couch watching old war films
With some company

My arm is sore...I had a flu jab yesterday

  2. I suppose you have to have a flu jab in your work.

  3. Is it late in the flu season for a flu jab? I suppose it is never too late, except for me who's just had it.

  4. At least you have a peaceful couch companion. I'm joining the Professor in sighing; it's all the fault of February.

Sighing about small shit is the wife's speciality, with each sigh preceded by a tut. Nothing if not predictable....

  8. With a young girl in your arms is there any wonder that the Prof is sighing. I never sigh, I find it far more effective to slam cupboard doors and bang tins and utensils about.

No sighing here...just snarls and growls and mini violence. It is a bit late for the flu jab isn't it? Are you required to have it for your job? The hubs and I have never had it.....we depend on healthy eating, fresh air, vitamin C, ecchinacea (sp?) sanitizing everything in sight and staying out of crowds. I believe once we move to the seniors condos we will be required to have the shot. I'm hoping not.

  10. There's been a fair bit of sighing around here as well, but it has been on my part rather than my partner's. You should do what she does, and just ignore it.

John, Next Saturday is the 13th, you said your zipwire thingy was the 20th. Are you worrying a week earlier than you need to? X

  14. What is the small shit that troubleth yon Prof? Is he resenting having to cook while you lie with Mary, watching old war films? Watch out for eggshell in your omelette.

  15. Glad you got that flu jab. Sorry about the arm. I get a flu shot every year. I have no problem with shots, but my arm is sore for days after. Jerry gets it at the same time and, although he whimpers and whines, he has no soreness after. He is also currently in the kitchen cooking pork and sighing a great deal about small shit.

  16. I have to get the flu shot too (asthma problems); got mine in september. the prof should be grateful for a roof over his head/a warm hearth/good food to eat/you; fuck the small stuff. mary is settling in well.

  18. H1N1? Take care. We had a lot of that in Canada a few years back. Scared a lot of people. I thought it had gone away.

    Enjoy your lie-down!

  19. A sore arm from a flu jab? I've had flu jabs for zillions of years and never known them to hurt or my arm be sore, but maybe, being a chap your pin threshold is lower than us ickle females (only joking!) Didums den, but you won't get flu - I dread to think how you'd suffer if you had flu!
Ah-ha ... I know why your arm hurts. The jab was against Man Flu, which is far worse (the jan and the flu!)
    Sorry, couldn't resist that ...

PS But a sore arm is a wonderful excuse not to make the meals!

  20. And after some checking I see the 2015-16 flu shot covers H1N1 - I didn't know. The things I learn here (or learn elsewhere based on things I learn here)!

  21. Hope the pork is worth the sighing you had to put up with.

  22. I hope you're feeling a little better. Greetings Maria xx

  23. Is "cooking pork" a euphemism?

  24. Aww Mary looks content. I hope you enjoyed your movie. I was thinking about cooking some pork to go with the abundance of apples in the fridge for dinner this evening. Hope all is well!

  28. My sister in law had terrible sore arms after her flu shots. Hot and swollen sometimes too. I am sorry you have one. I think someone should get out of the kitchen and kiss it to make it better.

I would send you soup if it were possible ( I would make someone such an excellent neighbor)... I made potato spinach soup with cheese and a touch of cream.

    I don't eat but I like to cook :)

Take an advil. They make everything feel better ..

  29. Kind of late in the season to get jabbed, but better late than never. It doesn't make you THAT sore, but any excuse to chill with the critters is a good one.

  30. Hope that arm feels better, and that your weekend ends on a good note, with a good meal!

  31. Last year I had the first flu jab of my life, then was handed a sheet of side effects I might expect. I didn't get any of them, not even a sore arm.

  32. Oh, little Mary...what a cute pup!

  33. I declined my jab this year.... I think I was wise.

  34. I thought about you last night John. We went out for a meal, and as a little taster beforehand we had what I thought was a Scotch egg. It was warm, and wrapped in crispy breadcrumbs and a thin layer of sausage meat, but inside, the egg yolk had been chopped and mixed with a spicy mayonnaise. Very tasty !

  35. I find that I usually sigh about the little meaningless stuff, the big stuff I am better at handling.

  36. I was cooking a rather large pork chop for Lovely Hubby the other day ..... the smell I hate the most. Pork and lamb cooking just reminds me exactly of what it is .... dead flesh. I can cope with bacon or chicken even though I don't eat ANY meat but pork and lamb - YUK!!

I hope your arm is feeling better. LH has a flu jab every year as a diabetic, but I'm left to wander in the wilderness that is germ-land all unprotected and at risk. I could of course buy one, but I'm not one for any unnecessary interventions, although from what you say this one could be a good thing!!

  37. Being in health care myself, I am leery of those flu jabs. I suffer the consequence and err on the side of caution. Then I curse myself when I do actually get the flu. Hope said arm is feeling better today. Anything IM takes a few days to stop feeling like you've been punched. Hard.
