As you say, not an easy film to watch but it really gets you thinking about why some kids grow up to be such monsters.nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10472673041193755894noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20303812.post-64212458324069575272012-04-04T08:51:39.415+00:002012-04-04T08:51:39.415+00:00I too don't like horror films ~ far too scary ...I too don't like horror films ~ far too scary for me! The first one I saw was back in 1974 (I think) called It's Alive and my boyfriend had to take me home part-way through because I couldn't stand all the blood and gore ~ mind you, I was only 13 at the time ;-) I think the last one I saw was probably Carrie and that scared me too so since then I've avoided 'em LOLSharonLarkinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17656369681782524281noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20303812.post-92083988532465079762012-04-04T07:34:28.061+00:002012-04-04T07:34:28.061+00:00Thank goodness for the sexy lumberjacks!Thank goodness for the sexy lumberjacks!DHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14199859409385042568noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20303812.post-11886072181465424592012-04-04T07:07:13.283+00:002012-04-04T07:07:13.283+00:00Mr Carpenter's little home movies were always ...Mr Carpenter's little home movies were always just a tad too uncomfortably violent for my tastes - there's something the cold, nasty edginess of his action that tells me more about his psyche and personal problems than I want to know...

That said, I love the "for crying out loud" opening scenes of The Thing. Oooh look - a few fellow pragmatic and demonstrably sane field scientists like ourselves have taken the trouble to arm themselves, get a helicopter in the air and chase a dog for fifty miles, desperately shooting at it and calling to us. We have guns ourselves, let us look puzzled and indecisive and welcome the dog and fuss over it like a puppy...

Doh! Take the flaming hint, idiots! The Owl Woodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11484484539144369129noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20303812.post-59914217245161528962012-04-04T02:16:14.114+00:002012-04-04T02:16:14.114+00:00I don't do well with scary movies or terribly ...I don't do well with scary movies or terribly violent ones, so must give these a miss, methinks.megan blogshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04555646904983619596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20303812.post-62359243401387837712012-04-04T00:10:19.659+00:002012-04-04T00:10:19.659+00:00I was traumatized by watching the original Howard ...I was traumatized by watching the original Howard Hawks 1950 version of The Thing. I was only ten at the time. I have seen both subsequent remakes and Kurt Russell's 1982 is my favorite.
