Bank Holidays in the Uk, by virtue of bad weather can be more disappointing than then your average Bette Midler movie.
Today is par for the course.
I will leave you with a photo of the wonderful Kelpie sculptures in Falkirk!

    1. Yes par for the course. A golfing term meaning quite typical. Power for the course would be a jet-propelled golf buggy driven no doubt by Donald trump yelling "YAAAAAAAAH!" as he skittled over other golfers.

  14. How about this, my neice and her husband are in Paris. She has to use a cane and stairs are not her friend.
The lovely Paris hotel people put them on the top floor . a closet with no hangers. She wrote to me .. she is fine. Her husband is melting down ...

My favorite analogy of the week (but I admit, I liked Beaches)

  17. Late May Bank Holiday is the time for the local Vintage Motor show & pageant. By tradition, a spell of bad weather during the show is a good omen for the weather through the Summer.

In 2006, the conditions were so bad underfoot that vehicles were being towed out of the mud before doors opened. This years, my brother visited on Saturday morning, as it opened, just in case. Much of today we've had torrential downpours, so it looks like a smart move.

  18. Our bank holiday is Memorial Day, with parades of high school bands and flags on every house. All very hokey and charming. The weather is generally good, much more reliable than St. Patrick's day.

    2. Shame on you. Beaches is the ultimate chick flick!!!And the young Midler now plays Amy Farrah Fowler in The Big Bang Theory, another favourite of mine.

  22. The Kelpies really are a fantastic feat of sculptural engineering. There is a door at the bottom of the necks which you can go into for a guided talk. They look fabulous at night, all lit up.

  23. I've decided the best thing to do on a public holiday is stay put. If I try to visit any popular attraction or beauty spot, the world and her husband has got there first and it's hell on earth.

    I love the sculpture.

  27. A pretty good day for me as it was cooler in the polytunnel .... I was just totally baffled that there was no Ken Bruce to pot along to, it took me awhile to realise that it as a Bank Holiday.

  28. I love Bette! Some of her movies weren't that good, but others had me laughing and that is always a good thing. Her shows are fabulous. She is back on Broadway again.
