Fat Club

The young woman in a sports track suit in front of me at fat club put 3  lbs on in a week!
She was incredulous and upset at the weigh in and we all in the queue all pretended that we couldn't hear her as she protested her result.
I lost 2.5 lbs this week ! And spied her outside smoking a fag on a wall when I victoriously left the community centre a few minutes later
" Bad luck " I said as I passed and she smiled weakly and shrugged
" It's my fault" she confided when I stopped " I got pissed at the weekend and ate the contents of the fridge when I got home"
What did you trough?" I asked, being all understanding and supportive
" all the kid's' chocolates, a block of cheese and a tub of mayonnaise" she sniffed
" Thats not too bad!" I told her
" washed down with a bottle of Chardonnay  " She added...
She had the good grace to laugh after she told me that
.....We both did.

  3. I used to work for Weight Watchers and the stories I heard went from heartbreaking to hysterical. Also? Way too many about constipation being the cause of a gain. Way too many. I probably heard more about bowel movements than a doctor.

    2. That is what my husband always said, you want to lose weight, stop eating ....simples :)
I was a skinny kid, gained over 40 lbs with my second baby and still went back to normal ( for me) weight.
But when I hit my 40th birthday, everything ground to a halt. I had to stop eating anything I wanted .. sugar is my downfall ... and bread ... oh and chocolate.lol ...
I have been thin for the past several years, when people tell me I should eat, I want to hit them in the face ..
but anyway .. anyone that struggles with weight issues, has my sympathy, it can consume your every moment ..

  6. PS
a lot of people eat out of boredom, they wander into the kitchen to see what to eat while watching tv or reading a book.
a friend of mine said when that started happening with her husband, she started making him take a long walk with her. They both are so fit !

    1. Walking and exercising might open up the appetite, increase feelings of hunger.

  7. We are all human, we all have frailties, we are measured not by our failures, but by laughing at them, and doing better the next time.

  9. We've probably all done some of that in our day and time!
Happy she ended the weigh in with a bit of a smile.
    I'm sure you cheered her up . . .

The thing about weight loss is that people's weight fluctuates by quite a bit. I have a pretty accurate scale that also gives percentage fat that I've weighted myself on for the last few years and it's interesting to see what happens. For example I've tried cutting out the old booze and the immediate result is weight gain because drinking a beer compared with the same size glass of water makes you want to pee. Same with a decaf rather than a regular coffee. A lot has to do with hydration which messes things up a lot. If you keep it up though the weight goes down again because of the carbs in the beer or wine. If you cut out things with a lot of carbs and keep up exercise the weight goes down and so does the % fat.

I have had a few "eat the fridge" days. Fortunately my daemon is savoury food. So the extras are cheese, samosas, smoked salmon and so on that don't do a lot of carb related harm. Not like the glass of cabernet I'm sipping right now...

    1. So the moral of this is that I should keep on my wine and cheese and coffee so I don't get (more) fat? God bless you.

  16. Plain mayo? Now that is desperate? was it in a sandwich?

  17. For me it's not so much what's in the fridge as what's in the bread box and cookie jar!
