Run On!

There is a downside to writing blogs. My friend Nu reminded me of this fact recently when she admitted that our news sharing was somewhat one sided.
I tell you this in way of a bit of colour!
I have been watching the excellent BBC2 documentary series American Justice recently and the music which features over its opening credits has been causing me a headache in so much as I love it but couldn't find it's title or who in fact performed it.
I have been pondering this problem for a day or so, but it was thanks to Iris , my visitor of this afternoon that popped in with her market research laptop to ask me a hundred questions on sky tv and my holiday choices.
In a moment of small talk I mentioned that I loved this music but couldn't find out what it was and she introduced me to Shazam an ipad app that would recognise the music and tell me what it was!
How wonderful is that?
Anyhow enjoy the music! And if you get the chance watch the documentary.....it makes for  sobering viewing

  3. Look for the version by Johnny Cash on YouTube. His delivery almost scares a person.

    1. Yes I see what you mean, almost reptilian

  4. I am not sure what was meant when Nu said the sharing of news was one-sided. Did she mean that she already knew all your news through "Going Madly" and so the only news worth sharing came from her?

  5. Johnny Cash's suitably world-weary rendition, recorded just before he died, is very affecting. My favourite version is by Bobbie Gentry; retitled 'Sermon', she gives it a bit of country-gospel sass.

Just out of interest, John, have you got any favourite musical artists?

  10. Love! that music, thanks for the intro.
I don't think I'd want to know any more about our justice system then I already do, it so often lacks just that, justice.
But the flowers are so pretty, love that blueblue but can't think of the name of that. Hope it's been a good day for you.

  11. I learned something today. I didn't know about the Shazam app. 🎶 I throughly enjoy having Spring flowers in the house. We've had so many rainy days but the from the forecast a few sun filled warmer temps. It's time for a hike this weekend.

  12. What an amazingly powerful song. And thanks (Iris, too) for the info about Shazam. Unfortunately, I don't think I handle any more "sobering viewing" right now.

I mentioned using Shazam a few times and I am surprised everybody doesn't know about it. I've thrown some pretty hard tracks at it and it has never been beaten. It even knew the theme music from Blott on the Landscape. The speed at which it can name a track amazes me. Run On is not my sort of music but I can certainly recognise talent.
