Take Me Home

It's Just before bedtime and as I've been listening to YouTube videos
George tottered over and climbed into my lap,
And rested his old face next to mine,
His behaviour kind of went with this song
A panacea to all the hate and disappointment of the day

  5. Jeezus, that was Tom back in his prime, back in the day. Back when I was his age. Did far different things than him, always loved his music and voice.
Weird, weird fucking times here in the US, John. Imagine the UK if Chamberlin had had his way, etc.
All countries have their decline, and we're clearly in ours here in the US.
The thing that worries me, is other countries in the past who've face their entrance to the dust bin of society, is they didn't have nukes. We do. Will we go quietly?
Should be a worry to the world at large.

  8. Nothing is better than a Scottie Puppy or an old one like George snuggling up for comfort. They are the very wise old gud dugs.

  12. Sometimes a beautiful sad song (and George) does help on an incredibly sad day. I don't know what's to come but, in my imaginings, there's not much good.

  14. I've been watching them and they have never moved. Maybe the wild red jungle-fowl descendants at the top of the page never move. Or maybe you haven't yet tipped them off about Christmas

  15. A few awful things have happened in the past years and I have been thankful for the sweet love that only a dog or cat seem able to give.
I remember sitting on a stone bench in a church yard , alone except for my dog Tate, weeping for the tragedy of the day, it was September 11th 2001.
Since then there have been more personal losses and it has all shown me that we have to have priorities and stop being so melodramatic.
Every four years this happens and the same weeping and wailing.
We are all privileged to be able to vote and we get to do it again in 4 years so the world really didn't end on Election Day.
And no, I didn't vote for him.
I have just had my quota of the reactions by some..

  16. Isn't coincidence a funny thing - I was just listening to this gem from Tanita Tikaram that she recorded with the Tom Waits band. And it pretty much sums up the mood in America at the moment.

  18. Boy, oh, boy, does my heart ache. There is nothing like a good song and an old dog to take some of the sharp edges off.
